That looks amazing and I am barely a TT casual.
Loads of crap games were made back then too, in fairness. But some games, like GoldenEye 007, have qualities that don't age. There is still loads to enjoy about the level designs, mission layouts, shooting reactive doods with a variety of weapons. The unlockables are still very addictive - I do get the same rush seeing something become available and then checking it out. Be it cheats, characters or MP weapons.
It's very "complete" for a cartridge game.
But this is literally the same code, literally emulated. You should literally be happy.
And it was botched. Literally.
Hear hear. A beautiful execution of a particularly fine concept.
Combat has a nice flow to it. It's hypnotic at times. And yeah, there is definitely a lot of lore to elaborate on.
Decent artwork and some basic optimisation go a long way. I tried Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves on a laptop with no dedicated VRAM and it actually ran 🤔
I think it bodes well for weird titles being made with MS money without much interference from Xbox as a publisher.
A game in 2022 having no voices and very literally needing a glossary sounds like stuff that would make a suit have a heart attack.
Dualsense stuff isn't groundbreaking but it's nice to have, nice meaty slaps and the axe return feedback is cool. Boss fights have good variety. Definitely the right amount of them, especially with mini-bosses. Some of the boss fights have the best-looking graphics yet this gen.
It won't be. Not nearly. We'll probably get cross-gen games longer than last generation.
Would also like to add that if Ubisoft left four years between games and didn't shoehorn in grind which can only be alleviated with paid "timesavers", it would do the quality the world of good. But they won't so...
Santa Manico have such a great level of consistency as well as that technical wizardry.
Nah, that's not sad. That's just natural. Embrace and enjoy 😂
I think they could release each game for 40 quid each and get good sales. The public is hungry for it.
I would have to agree. Their weaknesses are mostly covered by working within a framework established by the OG game. I am hopeful that it turns out well - which is all most people want. I don't think anyone expects the greatest remake ever, just a decent stab at something they love.
I had the first Net Yaroze showcase demo. There were a few classics on there.
It's a good idea, the footage I saw was really intense. Like you imagine it's supposed to be.
That's very true about some of these practices surviving in indie and mid-tier games. Especially the first point - the idea that "something cool" refined and packaged well will turn a profit. As opposed being built from the ground up to maximise the profit.
Would like to add, you can do dual analog by using two controllers. It's not too bad but you only player two-player max. that way.
Practically every Sony-published platformer of the 21st century is a masterpiece. Some get the recognition they deserve, some don't. This is one that deserves a lot more love.
