I'm confused, are you really saying they should aim to be the most average developers in the world? There is nothing wrong with ambition.
So tell me, did you think naughty dog was "the elite" before Sony bought them and put resources in? PG games have proven to be stellar open world Devs, this injection of money, resources and technology could push them into what many ppl call the elite. Not saying it will, but it could.
Don't get me wrong, the game will no doubt be great. But the gameplay in the trailer was very uninspiring, watching Norman reedus see how many boxes he can carry on his back while crossing an empty landscape wasn't edge of your seat stuff. The cinematics however were amazing.
The so called "backlash" is from ppl who probably didn't even complete w3. Cdpr know what they are doing, and they are masters of their craft. People who comment on n4g think they know more about games development than actual developers.
It looks like gears 5 is gonna go back to the new hope facility, where it all began with the sires. Can't wait!

You do realise that these studios will have had other projects ongoing even b4 their acquisitions? NT for example has more than one team. Many of these studios are known for SP games. As NT said, ms has given them the true creative freedom and resources to realise their visions. People asked ms to expand their studio portfolio, they did just that yet n4g still complains. Go watch the video ninja theory just put out about how this deal came about and why they wanted to do it. They told ms the only way that they would do it is if they had full, true, creative freedom for all their teams guaranteed. ms agreed and will supply all of the resources they need.

Bollocks. They did everyone was asking of them and more. This shows how this site is more "anti Xbox" than "pro gaming". The opening/creation of 5 new 1st party studios is unprecedented, and everything ppl on this site said they should do and more. And btw, none of you know when these deals were signed. Also, how long have ppl on n4g said kh3 was exclusive? Or Nier? The cognitive dissonance on display by Sony fanboys here could be studied at university level.
I'm sorry, but a company opening/buying 5 studios to make exclusive games is unprecedented. All the complaints were about investment in first party. They have answered those criticisms and then some. They have doubled their first party studio portfolio.
