Many post apocalyptic, dystopian games with a "hopeless vibe" as you put it have a wider colour palette than the earlier gears games. Lou, among others, immediately springs to mind. you can have a hopeless, brutal game without having a nigh on monochrome colour palette.

If they had shown halo gameplay b4 it was ready, you would of given them shit for that. They showed a wide variety of AAA games which are coming to their system, some of which, like DMC 5, were widely believed to be PS4 exclusive. They also showed a handful of their own exclusives. Gears 5 in particular, looks amazing. Sony showed very few games in comparison. And every exclusive they showed has been seen b4. Btw, it's rhino not "rhyno" as you put it.
People shouldn't "worry" about, "be pleased for" or "love" any brand, as a brand is an abstract construct designed only to make the company (another abstract entity) it belongs to as much money as possible.
