The 360 was still cheaper than the PS3 then but wasn't out selling it, the 360 hit that "sweet point" and sales rocket, i wouldn't say the ps3 is doing badly, it just isn't doing as good as it could do with a friggin price cut.
Anyway, good job nintendo - all those years sat at the bottom, you deserve this for sticking it out and not giving up.

How it seems that sony are the only one not making little digs at the other companies? Whenever they are asked to comment about something microsoft and nintendo are doing and how will they combat it, they reply with a "We don't care what they are doing, we're focussing on playstation and playstation only".

Seeing all these uk retailers going out of business and now seeing the biggest companies in the world having job cuts this large.
This is around the same scale as sonys cuts, i havn't done the maths but sony employ 180k and cut 8k jobs, microsoft employ around 80k and cut 1.5k jobs.

But it will most likely be the dominant "Next-gen" format so that will be the most sensible thing for microsoft to use, microsoft want their console to be an all purpose media machine so they would want it to play the current format that movies are produced on.
Has been sonys primary source of income for years since the amount of they sold, they're not going to give up after creating a whole platform with the cell they can use in future playstations just because they came last in one generation, nintendo have been slaughtered for the last few years - they come back with the wii and totally dominate.
