Release more games that people want. Duh. Pikmin and Zelda Wind Waker HD spiked sales a little. The price cut also helped. Now combine all that with Smash Bros. or Mario Kart. If the Wii U isn't selling better by next year, then it'll probably be another Gamecube at the worst.
Saying GoW was a flop is like saying Skyward Sword was a flop.

Finally. A third party game from a dev that actually knows how to work with Nintendo's hardware.
Because for the past few months Sony fans tend to leave comments about the Wii U almost every time there sales figures showing the 3DS on top and the Vita trailing behind seven year old hardware, practically alongside the Wii U.

NPD figures are more accurate. If NPD says Sony has sold more, then Sony has probably sold more. VGChartz is not as accurate and their figures are often rough estimates and are even updated to be more accurate to the NPD numbers.
Personally I thought this was one of the best features in the game. Kingdom Hearts did something like this with the Dream Eaters, but Nintendo really fleshed the concept out and made it more fun and charming.

DmC was crap. Its story was crap and its gameplay pales in comparison to DMC3, 4 and I would argue even 2's.
