So Nintendo's pathetic for making development easier on their console... just like Sony did with the PS4 which everyone hailed as a great thing?

That's a double standard if ever I've heard one.

I mean it will benefit indie game development for devs who want their games on Wii U. The devs of A Hat in Time come to mind.

Isn't Wind Waker the one that has set itself the furthest from the norm in Zelda?

No problem buddy. :D

Good start. That'll benefit indies especially.

For anyone who may care to know, Destructoid reviewed this and gave it a 9.5/10. May indeed be worth checking out since, you know, it's free.

Pikmin is hardly casual shovelware. It's only 'casual' in the same vain that Mario RPG, Paper Mario or the Mario & Luigi series are casual when compared to the likes of Final Fantasy. They are simplified compared to others, but still quite enjoyable.

Pikmin has a real time strategy element about it. There is, believe it or not, some moderate level of skill that's required to be able to play and master the game.

And by the way, just because...

What I mean is the kind of third party support that this generation of gamers are looking for. And even then, those were early in the Wii's lifespan, back when it was far more popular. How much support did it have in its final two years? Not a great deal from what I remember, and Nintendo did not do much to prevent that from trickling onto the Wii U.

It certainly isn't helpful, I can tell you that much.

Thing is obviously Wii didn't need a lot of third party support because of its fad status. The Wii U doesn't have that luxury. Best thing they can do right now is make their core franchises as appealing as possible and make the Wii U a viable secondary option for those picking up a PS4 and/or Xbox One.

@cee773

The 50k sales were after the holiday rush. January is not part of that. Try again.

@G20WLY

"Any reasonable person would agree that Toukiden (a new, barely touted IP) boosting sales of the Vita to this degree is a welcome surprise."

Yeah. In Japan. If the price was slashed in other regions and the game was released here, the Vita would be doing even better. But no, apparently it's better to sugarcoat ever...

Didn't Sony take the brunt of the PR damage back in 2006? I thought it was well established how people were frustrated they weren't focused on gaming, but more about just looking flashy. I remember quotes like "The PS3 is not a game console, it's a computer," and they wound up being seen as the bad guys, even spawning that whole Wii60 thing that fans enjoyed.

I mean, it makes a lot of sense. Microsoft made a lot of Sony's 2006 mistakes and THEN some....

How would they make it work though? You can't use the Wiimote, using the stylus restricts you to the movement stick and a single shoulder button, and it only has one nub.

Unless they made the game with the circle pad pro in mind, I would be very surprised if they made a well running Pikmin game on 3DS.

4729d ago 2 agree0 disagreeView comment

That's what they SHOULD do and I wish they would, but I doubt it will happen.

4729d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

They should pickup at least a little bit when the games start coming out (starting with Pikmin in August, if I'm not mistaken). I reckon holiday sales will give it at least a small spike since there will actually be content to buy on the it.

Ten bucks says it's DLC skins for Mega Man in Street Fighter X Tekken. And the plot twist it's been on the disc all along.

I guess you're right. Where's MasterCornholio when you need him to police someone else's comments? :O

"I vote for a Lesson to be learned and Nintendo to fall on their ass - and hope they learn from their mistakes and fix up their ******* act."

Okay. Just as soon as the Sony fanboys who get antsy about anything critical said about the Vita isn't blind hatred. Like I said, not exclusive to Nintendo fans or Microsoft fans.

EDIT: Also, you may want to refrain from using swear words. You'll lose your bubbles that way.

All fanboys are defensive. Sony fanboys are not somehow 'immune' to this.

For nearly every time I've stated objective viewpoints on the Vita, a platform which I've complimented and defended a variety of times now, I get chewed out by insecure fanboys who think I'm blindly hating the system.

So don't go making this about an "Xbox/Wii" issue. This is relevant to any and all fanboys, the brand is irrelevant.

Agreed. I'm personally excited. Hopefully anyone out there with a Wii U will get the game as well; if it's anything like the first two then it will be fantastic.

@Donnieboi

Yup, I saw that. Not unexpected. It was designed by Miyamoto and I'm already familiar with the first two gaems (though I'm sure I'm rusty now). It'll be my first Wii U physical purchase in a while, so I'm quite pleased it will be out soon.
