I guess you can categorize them like this.
Quarky, cute and very simple games are more casual (Wii Fit, Carnival Games or perhaps a game show tie-in like Jeapordy or Buzz).
Meanwhile hardcore games are generally the mature, darker and more complex games (Darksiders, Gears of War, Resident Evil, etc.) Both markets meet different audiences, so I guess that's how the terms "hardcore" and "casual" came to be.

Actually they're aiming harder at the core crowd with some casual support thrown in. There's a reason why the only casual game by Nintendo for launch is Wii Fit U.
A large amount of the launch games are core games. Inb4 "they're just ports" complaints. They're still third party games, many of which have been showcased at Wii U conferences since 2011.

No... it comes a generation after Wii, which is this generation. That means the Wii U is next generation.
I think that there's no real way to tell by what margin this thing is more powerful right now. I think we need to see some newer games built for the ground up and for the time being the developers need to get a grasp on the hardware.
I really don't know what the hell kind of problem people have. If you're one of those core elitists then what is the problem with the Wii U? I mean they have third party support, they have some solid games in the launch, we KNOW there's some killer stuff to come, so if there's a game you want on the platform why not just get it?

Four times the RAM of current HD hardware, a modern GPGPU and a CPU whose only alleged fault on the console is a low clock speed (which the guys at Namco said can be worked around).
Not to mention that this thing can project video game imagery on both a TV and on the gamepad with very little latency issues at 1080p resolution at 60fps WHILE multitasking.

Odd. I though the first part Nintendo games were 'confirmed' 720p. Oh well, I'm not complaining. Matter of fact I'm happy to be wrong, or at least misinformed. A better looking game is a nice place to solid gameplay.
