1. Yeah, I don't see that changing unless someone wants the same PR damage that Ubisoft and other developers received for their crappy "always online" DRM.
2. That's a tough one. I think we will see some more, but sooner or later developers will HAVE to do new things. Look at this year. The AAA titles were all sequels for the most part. Two digital indie games walked away with many of the GOTY awards, one of which was a new IP.
3. Any game h...
@Hicken
He said the Wii U will fail in comparison to the Wii. I assume he means because it won't sell as much. By that logic the PS3 did not sell as well as the Ps2 and therefor is a failure in comparison. I felt that was a pretty fair observation on my part.
But no, attack me for having my preference. After all, providing a sound and logical (as well as respectful) argument, really is not your forte, is it.
EDIT: By the way, I have not e...
With that logic, the PS3 was a failure compared to the PS2.
You mean the part where the Wii U's launch sales were still faster than the 360 or PS3's? Because those were the NPD's numbers. What do you say about that?
It's "U mad bro?" If you're gonna use a meme, do it properly.
Secondly, LOL_WUT generally leaves smarmy remarks on negative Wii U articles. He's a troll (or at least acts like one), but unlike Mika or Miku he does it with subtlety.
@Kingofwiiu
The first part of your comment was fine. The second part was just juvenile. It's not necessary to attack anyone for liking Sony when expressing praise for something you like.
The latest big multiplat shooter from Gearbox, a long awaited sequel to the Pikmin series and an exclusive superhero game made by Platinum.
What are you, a Madden fan?
I wasn't talking market share, dude. I was talking about units purchased by customers of the general market.
You might want to do a double check on those sales figures.
How about porting it to everything? I'd like for that game to be available on any platform, especially if they put it on the iOS app store.
These requests are actually quite reasonable. I would like to see these changes as well.
Right, because Aliens, Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 isn't much.
At that point you're asking who comes in first place, and in the end that doesn't really matter. Success comes before anything else in this industry. All three of the big names played several cards; some worked and some didn't but they all walked away with at least some success out of it in the long run.
I certainly hope you're wrong then. I'd never be able to afford one if that happened. I'd have to do what I did with the PS3 and wait years before getting one.
Yeah, a little bit actually now that you mention it lol.
It kind of helps that patching your game on a Wii U is free, as oppose the amount Phil Fish claimed he had to pay to fix FEZ on the Xbox Live Arcade. It sounds like the benefits for smaller developers are just nicer with Nintendo's policy. I'm guessing that's why people compared the eShop to Steam.
@OmniSlashPT
Journey and The Walking Dead, two indie titles, walked away with the bulk of the GOTY awards of 2012. If that isn't proof that digitally distributed games are just as important as "AAA-physical" games, I don't know what is.
EDIT: Also if FEZ and Super Meat Boy are anything to go by, for indie devs Steam is a great option but Xbox Live Arcade is a complete joke.
So I heard, yeah. I suppose it can pick up in that particular region after the software lineup has increased. The 3DS at first wasn't selling in ANY part of the world, and look at what happened after a couple of big name titles came out.
It's interesting how this platform was nearly the same price as a 360 at launch and yet it still sold as quickly as it did. A little under the Wii and little over the 360 (and therefor the PS3).
Though I'm largely unsurprised by the early success. This is a post-Wii Nintendo platform. Despite the apparent confusion about whether or not this is a new console, it's still selling. And at that price, it's pretty impressive.
Capcom claimed it was an "alternate reality" at some point I think. But by and large it's a reboot, not canon with the original four games.
