I concur with almost everything you've said; it's very rare to find someone with an opinion on the Zelda franchise who actually knows a damn about the Zelda franchise.

I don't exactly think I would care if Link in an iteration of the games could be female, but I'm glad that someone out there knows why Zelda (which is what I hear most of the time) can't use the Master Sword and defeat Ganon, herself.

Bravo, chap.

I'm buying it anyway, and am probably going to see my wife play through it as well. Sure, she'd miss the feature if she knew about it (she turns the breast sliders on everything as high as they will go in things like The Sims and Saints Row, so I'd imagine it'd be the same here).

But, whatever. I'm not going to let this interfere with my enjoyment of the game, though it is a very strange exclusion out of nowhere.

Because Konami Krazy Karts, or KKK, would have been a poor exercise in nomenclature.

I've had this argument with someone before. This is how it typically goes:

"Nintendo doesn't make new IPs, or only makes 1 a decade."

*Gets shown a list of 71 IPs Nintendo has created since 2001*

"Yeah, but Splatoon doesn't count because it's kiddy, Wonderful 101 doesn't count because it wasn't made by Nintendo (despite Nintendo owning the intellectual property), Pushmo doesn't count because download...

@Spotie

Software sales are actually everything as that's where the largest sum of money is to be had, so it's saying quite a bit, actually.

Nice call on 7 Days to Die. That game has come a long way since its initial alphas!

Handhelds will be relevant for as long as there is software to make them relevant. If the 3DS has taught us anything, it's that your software library makes or breaks your system more than just about anything else. The 3DS has sold boatloads of software, so they're probably going to stick with it for as long as it is profitable, and I'll be buying them so long as they have games I want to play.

55 million units is hardly a failure, and while 3DS hardware sales are tapering off (as they always do 4 years into a console's lifespan), software sales are not slowing down at all and will probably meet the numbers of software sold for the Gameboy Advance (which was something in the neighborhood of each person owning one had at least 4.7 games). Which, we all know they get more money from software than anything else.

I'm pretty sure the cloud effects are still on the PC version, just they weren't on that particular shot because they move.

For a PS4 port by Bandai Namco, ToZ runs stupidly well on PC. I had some screen tearing, but I just set Vsync in the nVidia control panel for this game and it worked perfectly. No crashes, no slowdowns, everything runs on High and it looks great.

This list seems a bit on the forced side since a lot of the larger name RPGs haven't really come out yet.

I just picked up Tales of Zestiria on Steam, and it's pretty fantastic. Anyone who doesn't mind JRPGs would probably be entertained by it.

This is sadly true. Even if it's better than SF64, the Wii U kind of has a proven track record of nothing but Mario/Smash moving units.

You would be correct. It's mentioned in the review, but it appears to be the same cost and the only difference is one runs SteamOS and the other, Windows.

Which, until more games get Linux versions, that may be the way to go. It's not like you couldn't do a format and install said OS, later.

I'm still not exactly sold on the Steam Machines as I have a solid gaming rig already, though I've been having to play games on High without MSAA late...

Wait, what? I hadn't heard anything about this!

My wife and I co-oped Hyrule Warriors for probably 300 hours and I was definitely picking this up when we got a PS4. Damn, that sucks.

I really love the Warriors games, but without some kind of coop play I don't think it'd hold my attention long enough (and co-op in Hyrule Warriors made Adventure mode way harder to A rank, which was a great challenge for us).

This seems to be similar to Hyrule Warriors, where the characters can unlock a variety of costumes and palette swaps by just completing the game. There were other costumes added in a free update (like Link's Classic Tunic), and there were also a ton that were only available by purchasing and completing the DLCs (you unlocked 1 costume per character as mission rewards from stages of different Adventure Mode packs).

Hyrule Warriors had a stupid amount of content in a $20 &#...

I think a lot of people felt the same way. It only made sense that all the time spent with Gohan was made to be building him up for something epic, then it climaxed with Cell and got a second wind around Super Buu, never to return to relevance after that. Common storytelling tropes would dictate that we followed Gohan getting the s*** kicked out of him for 5+ sagas because he would finally be the one to surpass Goku, but alas, it did not last.

I'll say one more thing, tho...

Holy crap, Summon Night? Amazing. And wow at all the characters you control in the new Fairy Fencer F- double the battle size as the last game, lol.

I'll take about anything Tri-Ace. Looks like the end of this year or beginning of the next is finally the time for me to get a PS4!

I'll take Devil May Cry, but damn if I don't want a new Mega Man title.

3792d ago 1 agree1 disagreeView comment

DmC was a pretty decent game, but I didn't really feel it touched on how amazing Devil May Cry 3 was. Or even 4, just going by how amazing Nero is and all the ridiculous stuff you can do with him after practice. Repeating half the game with Dante really sucked, though, so I'd put DmC over half of 4, easily.

My wife finished the first Kingdom Hearts game again, recently, and decided to finally give KH2 a shot (I bought it in 06, and while we were together, then, she never played most games I enjoyed).

The whole opening had her exclaiming things like:

"Who the hell is this?"
"No seriously, what the hell is a Roxas?"
"Is that dude with red hair going to give me the bad touch?"

Then Sora returned, the ga...

I do find Miiverse pretty entertaining, most of the time.

A private chat system is one of several things the Wii U is missing that it really just shouldn't, though. Sure, when I play games, I connect to my friends through Skype, RazerComms, Raidcall, the program has changed a few times over the years, but it doesn't change the fact that I shouldn't really have to do this.

Then again, I only really used a mic when playing Halo 3, abstaining from us...
