I've never been bothered about Infamous and , for my tastes as a Jet Set Radio Future fan, the 'navigate a city with ease' genre will hopefully be well served by Sunset Overdrive.
There's a decent amount of pseudo choice in The Last of Us. Ellie urges you to go one way. You ignore her for a bit whilst you scavenge around a mystery corner instead. If you hope to actually always have ammunition that is.
Bioshock Infinite works similarly.
They are aware that a lot of the game is dependent on a fixed story. So it is important for them to make that story very long in the knowledge that, after you've played it, no matter how much you loved th...
I don't trust any IGN score but I'm pleased to see a Disney game get a good score because it's so easy for people to look down on Disney games as some kind of power kick just because they got older and felt that their fairy tales haven't come true.
Sony has given 7 years of free online play on the PS3 or, if you buy PS Plus recently released games for no further charge on top.
Microsoft made online play constantly chargeable each month from the start of the original Xbox and now, to make up for it, gives old games you could pick up for less then £5 each each month as part of Xbox Live Gold. Thanks a lot not!
The only thing that saves Xbox for me is that they do get some good exclusives (that are no...
A lot of people like this article writer are far tackier than they give Microsoft credit for.
Killer Instinct looks like a really fun fighter, reminiscent of Streetfighter IV.
They responded to fan requests to ring back the series and, instead of making it look like of fighter fan interest only, they made it look beautiful enough as a game to appeal to anyone.
Of course the reviews aren't out yet and there's bound to be some 'hard...
You're using some assumption to choose your logic there.
If I'm due to get married and I say 'I don't actually want to get married' that on its own does not necessarily imply that I protest too much and that I do actually want to get married. I might really have had a total change of heart after coming to my senses.
The only good thing that can come out of negative feedback right now is that the only way that they could get really good publicity is if they finally actually let people play online for free (like Sony allowed on the PS3), or for just a small online subscription per game, rather than have to sign up wholesale to their online tax even if you only ever play 1 game online.
If I was working for Microsoft I would actually be slightly gleeful that all these reversed policies (whic...
It's been useful to them in way. They've got rid of some policies that probably weren't going to make much money for them anyway.
And this has turned in to a useful distraction behind which they've managed to get away with charging for Xbox Live for the third generation running because Sony are too this time.
Charging for all online play was always my biggest grievance against the Xbox.
DRM could have actually proven to be a p...
Well I doubt that you're going to be in to Ryse then because that's probably what it'll essentially be underneath. It looks like more like a showcase for the technology.
The reason why people might disagree with the idea that it is a clear choice to choose PS4 is that it assumes that people should have a weighing system in their mind where anything game related should always carry equal weight with any other game related thing.
But if, as a gamer, I absolutely want to play Killer Instinct, Ryse or Insomniac or Remedy's next game, then it's entirely up to me how much weight I give that and what I am willing to pay for certain things. I...
The Xbox One controller looks like a child's drawing of what a typical controller looks like.
And what part of the game does this formally Kinect game, now only partially Kinect (if you choose to use it) game, have?
Praise for the PS3 and PS4 was correct but I want the Xbox One to become more attractive because I think that some of its games are actually attractive.
18 disagrees without a single explanation? I love my PS3 but you really are giving XboxOne hate a bad name and will probably turn me towards what you'd regard as 'the dark side'.
Take the example of Aliens : Colonial Marines which was £49.99 on Playstation network the last time that I checked.
At that price with mostly average reviews (and having gone back up in price from a previously lower online price) it's a case of charging the clueless gamer, button mishitter and eccentric millionaire for their excitable purchase to make up for majorly lost revenue elsewhere.
To be fair , every Xbox has had 'strong' visuals in some of its games. Whereas Sony games tend to veer more towards slightly less colourful realism, Xbox games tend to like using strong colour veering on arcadey, something instantly flashy to impress at a party. Look at Killer Instinct for instance. Microsoft are covering a lot of genres.
Which may be more appropriate for their 'living room ' strategy where an easily understood statement can count for more tha...
Why was Xbox Live never free? Xbox didn't have anything particularly exotic in it on which Microsoft needed to recoup costs like Bluray or Cell. Greed. We're not all hardcore COD players. Some of us just want to play something like Sunset Overdrive once in a while without having to pay the earth to go online.
We must demand Xbox Live, free for a year! (yes, I know we wouldn't quite get Gold - I'm not daft about the Duck Tales wad of cash that Microsoft like to...
Many knew that free online was a major trump card of the PS3 to fight back against the Xbox360, not least because of the PS3 being more difficult to program for.
To expect it to continue on the PS4 which is at a decent price point (including a quasi-Move like feature plus touch pad in the Dualshock 4), much easier to program for, with a history of online play on Playstation and with Sony riding on goodwill for supporting both the PS2 and the PS3 with interesting games through...
Sony made an excellent move in demonstrating the worth of PS Plus with the PS3 before making it mandatory with the PS4 if you want to play online.
By comparison, Xbox Live has always looked like a forced tax to me. It's like the realisation of the popularity of PS+ has forced the creation of 'Games with Gold'. Games you can get for peanuts in second hand shops.
Internet Explorer on your TV is an Xbox Live GOLD 'FEATURE' ?? Ambassdaor you a...
I must play Alan Wake sometime. Having 5 or 6 years to create a game for just one console must have resulted in something special, even if mainly in atmosphere, when it's by Remedy.
I like the range of XboxOne games but why do people go overboard about Ryse? It's alright but I don't expect a reinvention of anything. I'll give Killer Instinct my praise for getting the look of an arcade fighter spot on.
Deep Down on the PS4 looks like it has beautiful detail. OK, it's a Capcom game so I have concerns like it'll feel too arcadey but look at the detail. The mud on the floor, the fire, the dragon itself.
