There's no way that it would have been worth it for Sony to include the Eye Camera as their technology stands if they were going to charge more for it. Ask yourself why its costs so relatively little to buy it separately on PS3. It's because the controls are frequently awful.
I appreciate that they had the Eye Camera back on PS2 but the Move is just like something that they had to release to tick that box off of 'motion control'. Both the Wii and Xbox360 had F...
Here's how it always is:
Early Xbox games always look stunning. It's important to Microsoft that they always get off to a great start.
Often you'll get a game released here that sees no later sequel released at all. e.g. Perfect Dark Zero. The beginning of their generation never necessarily bears any resemblance to the end of their generation.
Playstation consoles always get off to a less 'pow!' start.
It's not uncommon...
She's a disgrace. Sadly you can usually tell when a female boss is going to be like that when they look like they spend 100s of pounds every week on their hair. 'Rising star?' She was born in the year that Love me do by The Beatles came out! What kind of rising's she been doing in the meantime? Bloody Windows? How can you get away without so much as an interview to a gaming magazine nowadays as the 'head of Xbox'? Talk about Marie Antoinette levels of arrogance. A new ...
Or comments eh? :O)
That must be partly thanks to not giving 6 years of free online play to Xbox360 buyers.
6 years of online play for £180 on Xbox360 or £0.00 on PS3. There are somewhere around 50 million Xbox Live users.
That's 900,000,000 (900 million) UK pounds. No wonder they've got some nice looking launch games. But they saved them up. The Xbox360 got just enough of certain genres to sell well - and no more.
It could be argued that, for ...
There's rarely an easy choice in console buying if you genuinely consider all the variables based on what's promised rather than what was delivered last time.
You might say that PS4 has the slightly more souped up engine in its sportscar but that Xbox One has got the alloy wheels (the Kinect and rumble key controller). Although the PS4 has the touch screen and movement sensitive controller.
Then you take in to account the passengers that you're ca...
Phil Spencer loves the word 'ecosystem'.
'Whisper it'! The tired, 'draw the reader in' line favoured by lazy journalists wearing threadbare jumpers trying to be 'all middle class' in that 'part of me should always still sit on the fence in case the wind changes' egotistical way. Now used by a gaming site. No, you don't whisper it like a pussy if you believe in it. You SHOUT IT! Come on Tom, you look a bit better than spouting the terms favoured by wine soaked Fleet Street hacks in the 70s.
No, you carry it off if you have long, cool hair like the guy on the right. Unless you hate hippies and then that does nothing for you.
So they hope that up to 1.2 million people might buy an Xbox for the first time just to play it, the full worth of those buyers being in what else they spend on the XboxOne.
With careful planning, it can make sense for Microsoft to pay for the privilege, even if Dead Rising 3 , taken in isolation, results in a slight loss for Microsoft. But then they'll have extra things to buy for the game anyway like outfits and weapons.
Don't call Sunset Overdrive a kid's game. It's like the new Jet Set Radio. Plus mutants. Plus parkour. The game that I am most looking forward to. Sony fans, don't fool yourself that you wouldn't have liked it on the PS4. But Microsoft were a better fit for Insomniac. Either the game was more important to Microsoft than it was to Sony or Insomniac got more of a buzz for creating a new franchise from working with a new company. Jet Set Radio Future was on the Xbox remember....
Microsoft really needed this to be exclusive because otherwise The Last of Us would hang over them like a big zombie from the last generation. Not that I'd expect anywhere near the kind of story but of course they'll concentrate on more zombies, more ways to kill zombies, review scores determined by fun factor above all else.
"we were consistent in maintaining policies and a model that is fair and in tune with consumer desires"
If Microsoft hadn't broken their consistency then they wouldn't have fulfilled the second part of that sentence.
It's a bit like accusing the Devil of not being 'consistent' in changing his mind and choosing to free people from the flames.
Of course what Sony wanted to do was to stick the knife in every possibl...
I'd love it if it was Banjo : Nuts and Bolts 2. With more vehicles than ever before! :o) Just to see everyone's faces.
One thing's for sure- he'll never do a Ballmer 'I LOVE THIS COMPANY!' AND THIS ONE TOO!
The extra effects that the PS4 might have room to do might be the cherry on the cake in a few cases later on in the generation but you still need to like the cake itself. And that's why which exclusives you happen to like can be important. Like I like the look of Sunset Overdrive. The PS4 doesn't have that particular style in its line up. And early on, we don't tend to be given the deepest games so XboxOne's shiny Forza cars and Ryse's QTEs will do the trick to keep us int...
I hope that this game is called '6+ years of free Xbox Live'.
Because that's essentially what I got the Playstation equivalent of with the PS3's free online.
Sunset Overdrive already appears to be a bit of a platformer. He jumps off a platform on to a zipline.
I think that it's going to be a pretty vertical game, at least in part, like Jet Set Radio Future.
If any Disney game gets a high score from a significant number of reviewers, it's usually very good. Many reviewers love to be cynical about Disney because they can so easily see how the games are designed for children and feel left out that their own cynicism wasn't adequately catered for in the game.
Microsoft's aim to get the Xbox One in the living room rather than the bedroom:
Include Kinect 2.0, making it necessary to stand an appropriate distance from your console and jump around a bit. Things not specifically designed to be done upstairs in the bedroom.
Make it clear that the navigation is about TV as well. Thus winning over the main adult in the house in to putting the console centre stage in the living room.
But it doesn't ...
