Being hush hush is never a good idea if you don't want people to think that you've rushed your next console. It's not going to affect WiiU sales much.
Yes, it will. It will be regarded as a fantastic warm up act for the NX. If the NX had downloadable WiiU games (I'd love backpat but I don't know if Nintendo would lose too much money with that) it will have such an impressive launch line up, considering that Nintendo's games feel timeless, that I think it will have a surge like the PS4 did. I doubt it will ever sell as much as the PS4 - original Wii sales were massively inflated by gimmick buys - but 30-40 million wouldn't be...
It was exactly what Nintendo turned it in to. Which is console sales poor, attach rate and game rating high. In a way, Nintendo stayed very true to their word that the console would be more for the hardcore. There is very little shovelware compared to the original Wii. The price is that the RRP was mostly kept high so that Nintendo could make a profit. Nintendo did not want more sales if it meant selling the console at a loss. The WiiU's lack of console sales will only aid the NX because ...
PC has FAR more adventure games ie point and click types. It also has far more games for children. If you look at PS4's family section it's pretty much Octodad, Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper. PS4 tends to be aimed at a market who want adult story driven games, whether AAA or indie. For kids, Nintendo will always be the safer bet. For very hardcore shooter fans, Xbox or PC will always be the safer bet.
They let Rare turn Nuts and Bolts in to a vehicle creation game. Yes, the art design was pretty and yes that concept looked fun if it was still largely a platformer but it wasn't.
If Nintendo blow people away with the power of their console, keep the basic RRP about the same as Xbox One currently sells for (and allow people to buy nonessentials as accessories) and make Realistic Mario in a top graphical engine and have all 1st party WiiU games available on day 1 for download instead of backpat, Nintendo will still make good profit and all gamers will be happy. Sorry if you own a WiiU and would like backpat but you can still play those on your WiiU if you don't trad...
Gangstared, I just can't work out, apart from Rare (if they even interested you), what the N64 did so much better for you. The GC was full of N64 sequels , new , exclusive, series and ports alike. What did you actually want?
Unless you own a WiiU , don't do that. The days of Nintendo / retailers giving big price cuts on the console price like happened with the already low priced Gamecube are over. Even if the NX only largely had WiiU games for the 1st year, , it'd still be fun for people whose last Nintendo console was the Gamecube or before.
The Gamecube did not burn anyone. Metroid Prime, REmake, Re Zero, RE4,, Eternal Darkness, Super Monkey Ball, Viewtiful Joe, FX Zero, Star Wars : Rogue Squadron 2, Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Luigi's Mansion, Waverace: Bluestorm, 1080 Avalanche (a beautifully designed game), ports of Dreamcast 's Sonic Adventure 2, Crazy Taxi. There was even a Metal Gear Soli d game and Skies of Arcadia 2 for fans of those.

Twilight Princess proves that sometimes the version on the old console is preferred by people depending on available control system. They should have released Zelda WiiU as soon as they could and then worked on a better port for the NX.
Instead, now they're going to have to make a WiiU version when surely most WiiU owners are fairly diehard and are likely to buy a NX anyway. Yet they can't cancel the WiiU version without looking bad.
Japan will buy the NX in droves. It will probably break records for speed of early sales. Anyone who was ever put off by the Wii name will also be very interested. If the tech is good and the price is good, worldwide sales of less than 30 million would be highly surprising to me considering the back catalogue previous consoles have now accrued. I think Nintendo will have made a console that has taken notes from the PS4- fast memory and any gimmicks to be bought as accessories rather than bump...
Being episodic should allow, if they wish, Square Enix to react to feedback that they see about earlier levels. I hope so- I've never played Hitman before but I preferred Paris to Sapienza. Sapienza has FAR too many chests to hide bodies in. It is such a maze of a level that is extremely easy to always avoid pursuers (if you use your x-ray vision of course). In fact, it could be argued that if you ever get caught in Sapienza, you're just playing it wrong. There are so many routes that...
Drake's Fortune is a most underrated game. Yes it is an unnecessarily punishing game full of waves of enemies in the absence of setpieces (the jeep bridging the river is the only set piece that largely inspired Uncharted 2's direction). But I love the location of Drake's Fortune, the ruins (I also love the jetski level- yes, it's harsh but I love river rides), I love the hyper-cartoon style in the opening cinematic (which I still think stands up with anything in later games- e...
Yeah, I'd love it if there were many easter eggs towards The Last of Us in the game. Even just little location touches. Maybe a giraffe somewhere in the background, that kind of thing.
Well, read again because I never said that it was Remedy who decided to re-release Max Payne! Your '?' suggests that I'd implied that they had. I just said that it's because Remedy's in the news. When I said 'they've rereleased' I didn't specify who they was. So thanks for filling in the blank that it's Rockstar, I accept I was vague in that matter, but you haven't contradicted what I originally said.
Watercooler moment in the Xbox One reveal made me think of 90s romcoms. Only it wouldn't be as classic. More like The Intern.
Gamecube was very fine technologically, midway between the PS2 and Xbox, except for disc space and no DVD capability.
Nintendo and Sony alike should have aggressively attacked Microsoft nearly 15 years ago for charging for all online play. The detail of how much better Xbox servers are would have rightly been ignored.
The NX could have one of the greatest first year of games ever, with WiiU titles taken in to account. I think the success of the PS4 and the explosion in mobile / Windows games has finally made them realise that they must cover both bases - have large content and not skimp on tech at this moment in time. People will pay for good tech from Nintendo but take expensive screen controllers out of the basic RPP. Leave them as accessories to get price down. A beefed up WiiU classic controller would...
Um.. the Virtual Boy is surely their lowest selling console, not the hugely underrated Gamecube that you might be referring to.
