Agreed in terms of surprising long term Uncharted fans - they could have shown the clock tower as a setpiece instead because they had the 4x4 covered by the Madagascar video. However , in terms of attracting all kinds of gamers, the car chase was probably the best choice to make sales.

Problem with carrying on is that (MILD SPOILER) by setting the epilogue , what, at least 10 years later, if they continued it from that point, it wouldn't be a real time lapse. We would have no good reason to suspend our disbelief in pretending that had really happened. And a developer creating a game to show what happened in that time gap would have been spoilered by who's around in the epilogue. Ony a game showing something like, say, what happened inbetween any 2 past consecutive U...

?? Motorstorm 5 years. Resistance 5 years. Infamous 7 years. God of War- 10+ years. Killzone 11 years. Ratchet and Clank and Sly Cooper nearly 15 years. Gran Turismo 18 years Twisted Metal 20 years. I think you'll find that, despite the longevity of Halo, Gears of War and, for a while Project Gotham until Forza took over, and Conker resurfacing in Project Spark, Microsoft tends to kills things off far more quickly than anyone (understandbly so in many cases as Xbox buyers don't buy so...

Without Naughty Dog there's no point.

I personally find it laughable that any writer on a website calls themselves a 'journalist' unless they can back this up with mention of either working for a print publication with a large circulation, a journalism qualification or, in a handful of cases (e.g. Kindafunnygames) a big personality, insight and consistent time devoted.

It's like me calling myself a 'sprinter' just because I sometimes run somewhere. They usually seem no more a journalist than...

Seriously you're a little mental if you are chomping at the bit for a Crash Bandicoot platformer. They'd have to redesign the nature of the game to be something like a reskinned Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for it to be worth it. Or they'd have to make a Crash Team Racing sequel and include the basic platforming sections as bonuses.

That's amazing that someone can say in all honesty "Just because a game sells well or wins numerous Game of the Year awards does not mean a game is actually good" !

What kind of game would win numerous game of the year awards if it wasn't in some way good? (even if some that do are overrated or aren't necessarily the very best game of that year to everyone).

We should all do that with headlines. No need for petty explanations from factanistas. Just negation straight from the gut that "No it isn't! I verily dispute that claim and I'll take the reason why to my watery grave!"

You've had so much popcorn that you can't see your shoes.

When Dolly Parten was asked why her feet were so small she replied "Nothing much grows in the shade, honey".

Rico, I was joking just so I could get a related Dolly Parten joke in for some reason.

I think mention of Tomb Raider as inspiration on its origin has always been largely a coincidental red herring although it's possible that the TR reboot series has not gone unnoticed. If you thought you were making or playing a copy, you wouldn't bother. Uncharted Drake's Fortune was more Prince of Persia meets Gears of War meets Romancing the Stone meets Crash Bandicoot's jungle location (CB came out in the same year as TR. TR itself had possible past inspiration from Core De...

It's only you making a big deal that make people think it's a spoiler. Could have been any incidental character.

If the review failed to make a convincing case as this article says, why are they lumping together all critics of that review as a 'horde'?

What was especially Last of Us like to you apart from the gritty opening chapters and the increased concentration on character conversation and family life? Very much of the game was still a romp, just one where set pieces are often incorporated in to normal action.

Exploring 'L' is Last of Us like in its mossy decay, definitely, though.

I still have no idea why the review is in the 'Comic Riffs' section which lead to it being deemed 'satire'. Anyone skilled in English can read it and see that they sincerely mean all they say they do- or at least they want us to believe that they sincerely mean all they say they do.

At the end of the day, the writer has never seen the Uncharted series as anything above a wild goose chase of limited mechanics in which the attempts at emotional bonding fall on...

If you go to see a magician you're technically going to see a 'fraud' but you're entertained by the smoke and mirrors and the 'ride'. Why not here? Just to break it to you but, no matter what the game, you're looking at a lot of pixels rearranging themselves. Saying a game is a fraud is pretty meaningless, even when it reaches for particular meaning. People will take different meanings from Uncharted 4 but one, for me, is that even when Nathan Drake has become dome...

Uncharted has never been a generic Call of Duty looking game. It's always had colour and art direction to it which means that, like Uncharted 2, it will still look good in years to come. It's just that the gameplay doesn't stay quite as fresh because the game relies on the initial novelty of exploring- exploring physically and character relationships. But no game feels as good after the first playthrough, except perhaps Half Life 2 or Mario 64 because the level design is so kind o...

If you turn off having people in the picture in the pirate caves whilst Nate and Elena are holding flaming torches, you can adjust the angle to make the flames look something like a love heart. Did you spot that creature (something like a hedgehog) quickly hide away in to a hole in those caves?

Your review's well written and shows great understanding even if I only personally only agree with parts. Nadine, who is beautiful , seems to exist as a brief Chloe rough and tumble stand in but Elena already stole my heart in ways that she hadn't since UC2. Regarding the 4x4, I take it you might not have liked Romancing the Stone either (mud slides, broken bridges). The 4x4 was a central part of the downhill city sequence turning in to motorcycle combat.
