I actually kind of agree. On one hand consumers need to know if a game runs better on one console than the other. On the other hand, everybody really ought to know by now that games run better on the PS4, so this just feels like piling on.
I'd rather break a contract than mislead consumers about the nature of the product that I'm supposed to be reviewing.
Are you seriously saying that people who bought an Xbone should be happy with performance levels comparable to last-gen systems? Why buy a new console if 720p/30fps is good enough for you?
Oh, and the reason why we haven't had a 1080p/60fps GOTY yet is because this is first year that a console has been able to deliver that level of performance consistently.
If resolution doesn't matter, why buy a next gen console at all?
For that matter, why buy a blu ray player when you can watch the same movie on DVD?
I disagree. Gaming journalists have an ethical obligation to report stuff like this, so that consumers can make an informed decision.
I'd take Knack for sure. It got crapped on, but the twitch streams made me want to pick it up.
I'm a lifelong Bills fan. I'm just worried that EJ will sprain his knee walking from the console to his couch.
I enjoyed Dead Nation on the PS3. I'd play it again on the PS4 I suppose, but I'd be a little disappointed if this was the March game.
Maybe I'm just spoiled by the string of Resogun - Don't Starve - Outlast.
The author is dead wrong about the inclusion of AI bots. That was absolutely brilliant on the part of Respawn. Scrub players are now going to feel like demigods and even weak players will have no problem putting up a positive KDR in this game, which is going to make this a massive hit with the typical COD player.
This is the only game I've ever played that I would describe as genuinely scary. It manages to combine a creepy atmosphere and utter helplessness on the part of the main character, and tosses in just the right amount of jump scares.
I'm really glad I played this with the lights off on my first run so I could soak in as much atmosphere as possible. I'm enjoying my second playthrough too, but this is definitely one of those games where you want to make sure to r...
I absolutely will not buy this, and it makes me much more inclined to skip Phantom Pain.
Here's my walkthrough for Flappy Bird:
1. Download the game from the app store.
2. Crash into ground.
3. Crash into pipe.
4. Repeat steps 2-3 for a few minutes.
5. Delete the game.
My daughter downloaded this to my phone. I'm not normally a fan of child abuse, but I think I might have to make an exception in this case.
That's what I'm thinking too. All of the stuff that guy leaked were items that made the 'bone look a little better. I'm in the camp that says that this was a designed "leak" intended to build more buzz for the console.
Why not keep my PS3 and just buy the better console for the same net price?
Yep. I'm sure EA would love to get out of this exclusivity deal. Honestly, Microsoft would probably pony up more to keep it exclusive because they have to if they want to stay competitive, but EA has to be kicking itself for giving up 60% of so of the market when they initially thought they were giving up significantly less than that.
Pretty much all shooters have map packs. EA deserves criticism for lots of things, but I don't think they should get grief for making completely standard DLC, now that the game is done.
It's not really a beta -- it's demo.
Actually, if you read nothing but Gaf over the last 12 months, you were much better informed about PS4 vs. XB1 issues than if you relied on gaming journalists.
It was obvious as much as 6-8 months ago the PS4 was going to allow for consistently better performance than the XB1. Once we started to find out that developers were mostly going to optimize for each console (as opposed to gimping their PS4 versions in the name of parity), we found ourselves in the position where w...
None of the images look better on the xbone. The xbone versions all have objectively worse textures, blurrier images overall, and more aliasing.
