The lighting is improved quite a bit from AC IV though! Also, it looks like it has more motion blur than the past games.
I'm pretty sure it looks bad because they wanted graphical parity on the xbox one.
I'll take a perfect 30fps over a variable framerate of 30-60 any day.
Consistency is king! As long as the frame rate doesn't jump around, the user won't even notice the frame rate... they'll just enjoy the game.
Also, I want to add that playing the Last of Us at 60fps lost some of the atmosphere for me. I'm sorry if others don't feel the same way, but there's just something about the slower frame rate that says quality to me.
About the 30 vs 60 debate.
Playing DRIVECLUB at a solid 30fps is so smooth and it doesn't feel laggy or heavy to me.
Now, obviously if I were to go from solid 60fps, to solid 30fps within a few seconds, the 30fps would feel horrible.
However, your eyes adjust to 30fps within a matter of minutes and you don't even notice it anymore. I did this for The Last of Us as well (although, I think the motion blur is set for 60fps, because 30fps...
Doesn't look natural at 60fps. You can easily see the flaws in the animations at 60fps.
You have to admit, 30fps hides more graphical errors in games. You also don't see pop-in as easily at 30fps.
I'll stick to 30fps.
My original controller is still perfect, but I bought a blue one too. At first it wasn't as grippy, but after a few days it felt grippy again. I think there's some sort of powder applied to them from the factory that rubs off during use and they become grippy.
I haven't experienced this bug. Does it happen on all PS4s or is it only some? 2.0 has been fantastic for me.
The title of the video says Uncharted 3 though.
When the Last of Us came out on PS3, it used lighting tech that I've never seen a PC do in any game. The fact that the PS3 could pull of great graphics like this in impressive.
Most PC games are just higher resolution versions of the console game. The developers don't really take the PC version to the "next level" so to speak. They just give it higher resolution textures and smoother shadows, but the lighting model stays the same.
Now that t...
People are still playing Destiny?
Am I the only one around here actually satisfied with DRIVECLUB?
By the way, I wish someone would make a racing game with made-up car brands so that they could have realistic damage. I hate how cars are like tanks in most driving games.
I like how GTA IV does damage, but the cars seem like they're made out of one giant piece of tin foil. If Bumpers are plastic, they will damage differently than the metal parts of the car.
It's funny... back when I played the original Carmageddon game on PC, the funnest part was running over pedestrians.
Part of what makes video games so cool is that you can do stuff in them that you can't do in real life and you'd be locked up for life for doing. It's fun running people over in a video game, but in real life, you don't want to (for obvious reasons).
If I wanna run around in GTA and shoot people randomly with no rhyme or rea...
I'm having an incredible amount of fun with this game. I'm glad I bought it. The devs can take their time with the updates as far as I'm concerned. Love the rock solid frame rate too.
I've never played any games in a well. Is it cozy down there or something?
I like how everyone on here acts like they're a developer and automatically assumes that if another game is 1080p, then the PS4 can handle all games at 1080p regardless of the game engine and developer.
Currently playing DriveClub and it's only a 30fps title. It's smooth as silk. As long as games have really good motion blur, 30fps looks great.
Am I the only one around here that is fine with 900p? What's the big deal?
By the way, I'm a Playstation user, not an xBox user and guess what… I STILL don't care about resolution. 1080p? 900p? It's the same to me. I play the games, not the resolution.
Yes! I was worried that they weren't going to reach a constant 60fps and ship a game with a horrible variable frame rate. I feel better now that it's 30. Hopefully it will be like AC4 and locked steady.
Does it still have cheesy last-gen animations?
Relax. I'm just joking around. People are way too sensitive over framerates and resolutions.
Instead of going directly from 60 to 30, try setting the game to 30fps and start it from the beginning. Once your eyes adjust to the 30fps refresh, the game will be fine just like all of the uncharted games that nobody had a problem with.
There comes a time when developers just can't achieve their vision at 60fps and must drop down to 30fps. There's only so much you can do with 60fps but with twice the render time for each frame, you can have so much more.
