Saying that the wii is not a real console, just so it doesn't count as competition, is like increasing the number for what counts as overweight, in order to fix an overweight epidemic.
Which ever corporation makes most profit wins, seeing as the main purpose of a corporation is to make money. The fanboys will however never win anything, besides worse games if their "side" achieves monopoly, due to lack of competition.
Hype affects something both ways. Had Too Human been hyped less, it would probably have fared better with the reviewers, due to having less expectations to meet. Likewise, Dead Space probably scored higher due too being "unravelled" as the reviewers played it, with very little preconceptions.
There are other things that affect reviews besides just hype however. Such as the reviewers mood (I'd guess they are humans as well), so it doesn't even have to be years later, jus...
Setting a definite answer on the most subjective of things, such as "good" and "fun", is a pretty effective way to kill off creativity.
Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
Kinda like Final Fantasy 11 (or XI as it's called, just like your name), except that FFXI was PC, 360 and PS2, and PS2 isn't really part of the fanboy war, even if it's included now and then.
If they released The Old Republic on PC, PS3 and 360 at the same time, with 3-way cross platform, you could get some funny (sad) scenarios.
Like having a 360 fanboy becoming in-game friend with a PS3 fanboy, without being aware of the other's "allegiance", then findin...
Just like World of WARcraft, WARhammer and Guild WARS huh... how random!
Cross platform between PC, PS3 and 360 would truly be something special, but I wonder if the millions of fanboy cries could suddenly be silenced, and the corporates egos be overcome to allow such a thing to happen.
Ironically enough, it might just be EA's greed that pushes forward for this to happen.
As much as I loved the first 2 games, it's really hard to get hyped for this one.
First of all, it's a mmorpg, which is almost by definition opposed to what made the first games great. Storyline becomes something that only specially interested people pay any attention to, and thus is more of an after-thought. Permanent game changing consequences are a no-go. Basically, game balance basically dictates everything.
Then you get lots and lots of people picking the jedi/s...
I agree on what he says, violence is over-represented now days, making the other, much more important imo, elements suffer.
But I'm not quite convinced he sincerely means it, and not just trying to sell the overly casual wii games. Most of his great games, like the marios and zeldas are violent by nature, even tho they are great for other reasons.
If you don't get paid for spewing this crap in every article, do some heavy soul-searching.
If you do get paid, go get your soul back before it's too late.
Seriously.
Remains to be seen if http://www.n4g.com/events_e... were empty words or not.
But either way, it's all standard corporate policy, they all do it. Strange that this comes as a shock to anyone, perhaps it's time to stop worshiping the corporations and see them for what they are; money making machines, nothing more, nothing less.
And for that reason, wii gamers probably get most shafted. Nintendo basically has no reason to bring out any new, innovating games, and the software sales reflect that perfectly. All PS3/360 games in the top 10 are from august/september, while wii games are as old as... february 2007.
Fanboys get excited by hardware sale wins, but fail to consider that one of the big reasons why both PS3 and 360 are putting out so many great games is because they are neck in neck and have to work...
Classic example of corporate newspeak.
"Game over man!" - Alien 3 on SNES (taken from the movie "Aliens").
There really are many ways to solve the control scheme. The controls could pretty much be like Marvel Ultimate Alliance and it would still, more or less, play like KB+M Diablo would. For item sets they can use hot-keys for pre-defined armour sets etc.
And in some shared-screen coop and you have a winner.
Would be a bit different than the PC version, but not really worse.
I guess a certain someone isn't too familiar with Black & White or pretty much any other Peter Molyneux game. The CHOICE to mistreat your pets/minions was always a part of his games.
Besides this not being newsworthy, it's not even technically news, being old and all that.
Careful what you wish for, might just end up having the console control your mind. Imagine all the marketing money they could save by having "BUY THIS" transmitted right into your mind.
I find the whole concept rather creepy to be honest.
Only a contradiction if you buy into the silly fanboy war.
If you just care about good games, all the consoles will own the holiday season compared to what they've offered so far this year.
The site reviewing the game is called Xbox Live Addicts (XBLA). Not much chance of this game being mistaken for an Xbox Live Arcade game at this point, is it?
Announcing it doesn't mean it has to be released in 2008... could well be 2010. Get they hype train rolling early and all that.
Yep, a clear sign that the 360 version flopped.
^^^How silly N4G can be a times.
This is the absolute most harmless type of bug possible, which should be reported to Bethesda so they can patch, sure... but news?
