Activision heavily promotes their games through IGN so to expect them to risk future ad revenue is crazy.

Here's the thing. The safest bet in the gaming industry is Call of Duty. Simply because it sells so much it's safe to give them a 9 because no matter what you or I think. They can justify the score by saying "well millions bought it so its well deserved." They then please The Activision PR team, they get their exclusive access to future Activision title...

not so much a solid review but more like a safe review.

Revelations got a 8.5 also. all the other AC reviews from IGN are within a .5 or so difference

I can still call you stupid for doing all that. all you can do is agree or disagree with me.

If someone has to write an ENTIRE ARTICLE about some bloggers sensationalist title....they probably need to get checked.

too much nerdrage

you guys really need to look up the Eurogamer fiasco. The guy pretty much called out review journalists getting chummy with PR teams.

If your a journalist and you're getting exclusive behind closed door footage, interviews, swag bags in an industry where their paychecks (advertising) come from the very people they are reviewing. What's gonna happen if you give your PR "friends" a low score?

All those extra perks stop and you risk publishers...

If you think cashing in deserves low scores, Cod, Uncharted, Metal Gear Solid, Halo deserve low scores

but this is one reason why MoH:W was doomed from the start.

I was interested in this article and I skimmed most of the reviews to read that the major issue everyone had it was generic, bland, boring, just more of the same. Pretty much what the call of duty franchise is suffering from right now.

You'll say cod offers more game modes etc. whatever but CS offered everything COD is still implementing from more than a decade ago.

We recently saw that eurogamer journalist leave due to calling out the industry getting re...

He's not talking about codename: eagle. CE wasn't even a modern shooter

He's talking about Desert Combat and how well that was received. While CS being its own game/mod, DC was what set off the modern warfare era we are in now.

I don't know anyone that loves dlc. Nextgen is gonna suck some big ones for console gamers. With steam big picture in development pc gamers are in a nice spot

Outside of mmos there is no game that's all quality based off the size and scale. Well outside the ps3 of course. Tes is a pc franchise and on pc its flourished.

Lost interest in battlefield after how hard they messed up the franchise. I've been a fan since 1942 demo came out. If I pick it up again it'll be during a steam sale.

Yes I'm aware of how low the odds of that happening are. I've uninstalled origin over 6 months ago and don't see a reason to install it anytime soon bf4 will be a joke.

its actually not a really good investment and this is why Vivendi is looking to sell. Right now is the perfect to sell before we begin to see the beginning of the end. I'll give my opinion

1. I will bet anything they want to sell before November We will see how much marketshare the CoD franchise has lost by the end of the year. Blackops topped 25 mil, MW3 is still in the teens. I'm gonna guess BO2 doesn't break 10 million. still impressive yes but if you're a...

a modder is not a pc developer also it's a fan of a game that wants to make his experence as good as possible.

modders have fixed every game for Bethesda on PC. The difference is they put in the effort for the pc community to make it as good as possible.

It would be similar to Bethesda not releasing mod tools for Skyrim. Yes Skyrim would still be a good game but you think they would be remembered for that by the PC community?

When you sell to pc gamers, you better realize that they expect high quality no matter HOW the decision was made to port. If not then your image will degrade.

PC has shown it can sell 6 million in a week and that a free mod can mean an extra 1 million for a game that's been out for years. this is nothing to sneeze at.

There is LOTS of money to be made on PC but treating pc gamers like console gamers won't cut it.

Cs is actually more esport oriented. Sure its a fun casual pub game. But there is another game within cs that is night and day different from what you think it is.

Im gonna take a guess this article is setting up blackops shoutcasting to be a big deal.

I won't get into any specifics but expect heavy cod esport promotion soon from ign

edit. Read the article after I posted this and found what I was looking for towards the bottom

Hamm4r gets it.

Btw activision is really out of touch with the industry if they think shoutcasting is all it takes to make a game esport worthy. Starcraft, league of legends, cs, the main reason these games thrive comptetitively is due to balance, and the fact that if I decide to master one of these there won't be a sequel splitting the community next year.

Cod4 had an insanely popular competitive following and was set to be one of the fps esport bigs wi...
