Just like no one is forced to purchase them.
Moving on to Digital distribution, it is, quite simply, the future whether we like it or not. 80% of PC games in 2009 were distributed digitally. It will get close to 90% in 2010. As for consoles, they will continue to have physical discs, but simply look at the myriad of games now available as downloads on PSN and XBL. I'm talking whole retail games, not just the indie stuff. It's just too profitable for the game compa...
And I am excited for updates and DLC. I hope "Onslaught" comes to PC soon.
As for the lag and disconnections, PC, thankfully has almost none. You gotta love dedicated servers. I know it has been bad on 360. I haven't tried PS3 yet.
I also haven't had too much trouble w/snipers in hardcore. I mean, they are very dangerous, but that has just meant I needed to play more cautiously.
but have absolutely no interest in 3D entertainment. I don't want to fuss w/glasses, personally, and I find that the 3D tends to make the images less sharp.
Then there is the inherent problem when watching a 3D movie w/friends:
"Hey Mike, come on in. OH, your forgot your glasses? Well...were out. Anyway, uh, grab a snack. Sorry about that."
I just don't see it as an improvement, just something different with a surprising ...
I often agree with your comments, nycredude, but this is one of those rare times that I don't. As owner of both HD consoles I want the superior version of any multi-platform title not available on PC. Therefore, an in depth, precise technical analysis such as this can be extremely useful.
Yes, about half of the differences in the games mentioned in this comparison are not noticeable to the human eye, but that simply means that the other half are. For example, having per...
needs all of these features to be a true competitor to Smartphones like the iPhone 4 and the latest Androids.
Mobile gaming has a lot more players these days and to stay competitive a handheld needs to be more than just a game machine.
Obviously every single one can't be filled with top notch stuff so I'm not complaining. I was just hoping for more demos. Oh well, enjoy the latest Metal Gear!
The fact is that one can do well with either a PS3 or 360. Having both is truly not a requirement except for the most avid gamers (like me).
I'm not against PSP, by any means. I just never got one and as it got later and later in the handheld's life-cycle it just didn't happen.
Great to see the latest Metal Gear do so well. Classic series.
Will we hear of a PSP2 @ E3?!?!?!? I hope so!
I LOVE BBC2. I even sneaked a game in this morning before work. I love how tactical it is.
on gaming. Change everything? Crash and burn? Who knows, but its exciting!
And I gotta give props to the direction they have taken. Move really is Wii HD in many ways. Natal is a gutsier, if not riskier, way to go. Yes, I own and love a Ps3.
I wonder what they are up to?
but, in all honesty, the PS3 has given me more "bang" for my buck. I LOVE MY 360, but with blu-ray capabilities, built in wireless, web-browsing, blue tooth, and free online play the PS3 is just more value for your dollar AND IT COSTS LESS over time.
Now, I don't mean that the article doesn't raise good and reasonable questions, because it certainly does, I'm simply not going to judge what I haven't tried for myself.
On a separate note, Onlive is giving away months of play-time for free as part of their launch. In fact, some lucky people (myself included), have been given a free game as well.
Anyway, however Onlive turns out, gamers should try it and judge it for themselves.
I guess they are technically right. Now, based on opinion...that is anybody's game.
In other words, once the public can't afford to game at the level the industry is used to, innovation to cut costs will become an absolute necessity. In that vein, a better rendering program is far cheaper than building millions upon millions of more powerful consoles.
Basically, increased processing power is always coming our way, but it won't need to be as much as PS3 over PS2, simply because of improvements in how the hardware is used.
The mobile gaming market is growing in leaps and bounds. This growth is fueled, in particular at this point, by Apples iPad and, even more so, iPhone. In fact, as of this posting 58% of all apps in the apple store are games and there are more apps in the apple store for iPhone than every other mobile device combined. The iPhone is handily outselling any other mobile gaming device.
With easy, quick digital distribution that makes the DS and PSP's digital distribution c...
On modern tech. Would be awesome.
would bring tears to my eyes. I've played Elder Scrolls IV: to death and I love it. I've added most mojor mods, every expansion, and more. I love that game and the fifth installment is, hands down, the title I look forward to most in the future.
Moving on, Rage and Fallout:NV are both shaping up nicely from all that i have seen. I can't WAIT to learn more at E3.
as well as other Digital Distribution channels such as Direct 2 Drive and Impulse.
Regarding Steam directly I appreciate that it has a huge library, quick download speeds, and a large, active community.
The article complains about Steam's price but I have received nothing but great deals via Steam by waiting for sales. Looking at my account right now I paid L4D2 $29, Crysis & Crysis Warhead $39, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Assassins Creed & Mirrors Edge o...
I would love to see some of the original maps.
