It would seem that the 360 S has struck a nerve in Japan. In the short term at least.
I wonder what the Japanese reaction to Kinect was like? Perhaps the 360 may finally see some meaningful sales in Japan.
If it has to be something done with Kinect.
I would love to see a new Perfect Dark FPS with head tracking.
But for a traditional controller based game? I’ll take Conker.
The first game was originally meant to be a four-disk game for the PS1, and then it was moved to the Gamecube after an exclusive agreement with Nintendo. Then on to the 360 and Microsoft Games Studios after the Nintendo partnership ended.
Its no bloody wonder the game was a mess.
A second game made from start to finish on one platform might result in a better game and take less time to develop.
Or it might be just shit.
While you are correct in saying that one positive article doesn't prove anything.
It should not be completely ignored either.
The verdict is still out on whether this thing works or not. And every preview and hands on article helps build a picture. Positive or negative.
you have used it?
tell us, how was it?
A nice positive article.
This guy seemed to have a blast playing with Kinect. Perhaps you really do have to try it to understand how well it works.
However we are still getting differing reports on the lag or lack of.
This article says it was minimal while others have said it was borderline unplayable.
Perhaps lighting conditions play a part?
I’ve only started last year myself, and it's tough to get right.
Could you imagine if EA could do something like that for TW2012?
Getting coached by Tiger in your own home. How many weekend hacks would pass that up?
It’s going to take some time for developers to get their heads around Kinect.
As far as a golf game goes I think the lack of something to hold would be Kinect’s only problem.
There are a lot of important things to think about to hit a golf ball properly. Keeping your head down, feet position, the amount of bend in your knees and elbows, the list goes on.
These are also things that Kinect can track and coach you on. I’m sure that if a properly...
My advice to would be to just put the controller down for about six months.
Some things are just more important.
That is a great question.
+ bubble
"What do you think?" asks Wil Mozell, a Microsoft GM who oversees many of the companies designing Kinect's important launch titles.
"It's great," I say. "But what about the lag? Will you ever fully eliminate it?"
"We can get rid of a lot of it. Keep in mind, these games are 80-to-85% there. There's still lots of optimization left to do."
"But what about the hardcore games? The FPSs, the...
Visually it’s very impressive. It would seem that Kinect titles will not suffer too much in the graphics department.
The hand tracking seemed interesting. It’s a shame we could not see if finger tracking is achievable with Kinect.
Black & White 3 needs to be put into development immediately.
It’s just sad because it could have been so much better.
They could have at least had a demo of the head tracking ability that Kinect should be capable of. I mean Microsoft did hire Johnny Chung Lee for god’s sake. (see video)
And apparently Milo’s ready to go. Who’s idea was it to leave that out of the keynote? Milo was basically the face of Kinect last year. This year it’s all behind closed doors for celebs?
Microsoft’s keynote had some go...
I think the Kinect hardware still has promise. But the software was bad. Really bad.
Hopefully there will be some much better stuff coming down the pipe.
Microsoft still had the worst showing this year by a country mile.
Sony probably won in my opinion. They covered both their core audience and their upcoming casual offering very well. And even after all the pre event announcements still managed to surprise with games like Twisted Metal.
Nintendo came storming back this year. No question about it. That 3DS is going to sell very well and will dominate the handheld market for some time to come.
Microsoft…. Had some neat stuff .The ESPN for Xbox live looked great, as did the ges...
Sony in my opinion. As they gave gamers what they wanted.
Nintendo did very well also. The 3DSI is going to dominate the handheld market without question.
Microsoft? Ummm yeah. Not so much.
I'm really glad that Nintendo had a great showing this year. After the less than steller performance from Microsoft yesterday.
Looks like the Xbox went too far into the mainstream and forgot to announce about half a dozen games. I'm sure that they will be better off for the kick up the ass they will get from Nintendo and Sony.
Note to Microsoft: Just buy some bloody studios please.
Sounds like the Star Wars game and Joyride might be the pick of the buch so far for launch titles.
Yup.
$120 is about where I would have guessed. I would expect it to have a pretty sharp price cut after the holidays.
It will probably settle at about $99 shortly after the Christmas rush.
I don't doubt anything anymore after Bungie split from Microsoft.
Never say never.
