Gotta get those chievos.
You have to hand it to them. Microsoft simply will not ever give up on Japan.
Will Kinect be the breakthrough that they are looking for? I don’t believe so no. Unless they have a Japanese developer creating something exclusively for it that’s completely bat shit crazy, and totally geared towards the Japanese gaming culture.
I have no idea what such a title could be.
The only other way I can see the Xbox gaining significant sales in Japan is f...
I wonder how many great game concepts the dudes at Lionhead are sitting on.
Justice and Survivors both sounded excellent, and remember that game B.C they were looking at doing on the original Xbox?
A Wing Commander type space combat title set in the Halo universe could have potential.
GRRRRRRRRRRR
I hated the water temple. So F-ing hard.
Cooking with the chief. I love it!
Looks at kitchen hand Johnson "I need an apron".
I don’t think SE have any sort of grudge against Sony do they?
Perhaps this is just a case of the two companies (SE & MS) needing something from the other. SE is probably looking to push their products to sell better in the US while Microsoft are still trying to gain a solid foothold in Japan.
It’s probably a means to and end for both SE and Microsoft. FF13 and FF13VS on the 360 open up both markets for both companies.
Eg: more xbox360s ...
I don’t see what all the fuss is about.
You all said it yourselves when EA announced that Mass Effect 2 would be coming to the PS3 next year. “ The third party exclusive is dead”.
If SE thinks that porting it over to the 360 will squeeze out another 1.5 to 2 million copies sold then I guess it’s worth their time to do it.
And NO it’s not all Microsoft’s fault if the PS3 version of the game is less than you all expect, It’s the developers for...
Microsoft's other 1st party studios are.
Turn 10 - Forza Motersport
BigPark - Joyride
Good Science studios - Kinect Adventures
and another called Firebird Studios. But I'm not sure if they are developing games or not.
On topic: Is Kinect a step backwards? It’s still to soon to tell. Preview articles are still all over the place as far as wether it works or not. Some are claiming that it’s almost unplayable, while others have had no problems at all and find it a refreshing change.
As always we must wait and see, Kinect releases in what? Mid November? So I guess they still have a little time to further improve on things.
I just wish someone could take some clear steady video...
However, we can only use the data that is put in front of us. NPD only tells us part of the overall picture.
But it’s still a big part, and pretty accurate from what I have read
Activision seems to be on a bit of a roll with it’s licensed properties.
First Transformers war for Cybertron and now Spidy Shattered Dimensions seems like a solid title as well.
“Sigh”. *Adds another title to his ever-growing list of “games I must get around to playing”.
It’s not always about what coming up. The 360 has a large back catalogue of good games.
I’m not the sort to write endless lists of titles to prove my point. But I’ve had a 360 for a few years now and I’m still playing catch up with all the major titles.
To be honest, what other people spend their on is none of your business anyway
Hmmm.
I don’t know if we are going to see the DS at the top of the charts this month.
Think I read somewhere that DS sales were in decline in anticipation of the 3DS.
Good luck to him.
It sounds like he’s had a bunch of success with Microsoft and Xbox and simply wants to take up another challenge.
Hopefully it will work out well for the Xbox platform as well. Someone coming in to this new role with fresh ideas and new ways of looking at things could be just what the Xbox needs.
It read like a pretty balanced article to me, I’m not sure if they were testing the software in it’s latest builds or not.
Kinect Sports seems to be coming along nicely, The football, bowling and boxing looks pretty good from what I’ve seen. Dance central and your Shape fitness are as always sounding very responsive.
Microsoft might just pull a rabbit out of their hat with Kinect. At the very least it should provide a nice change of pace from my main gami...
But like a lot of others you are selling Microsoft short.
Halo was never intended to be the Xbox's flagship game because of internal problems and gaming press criticism, but Microsoft did not act on these concerns. Microsoft’s marketing heavily featured Halo because the green color worked well the console's design scheme.
Bungie made a game that Microsoft simply believed in. Both had a part to play in Halo’s success.
All three are doing great.
No console is really "winning" in my opinion.
Although you could make specific arguments for all three. Xbox and Nintendo have both dramatically improved on their market share since last gen, and the PS3 is having a tremendous run of form at the moment.
The important thing as far as I can see is that there are no losers this gen.
Amazing pre order numbers for Halo Reach. Well deserved IMO.
Looking at the rest on the list, interesting to see Fable 3 doing very well.
First person shooters COD Black Ops and Medal of Honor as the 1 and 2 PS3 pre ordered titles (I keep getting told you guys don’t play a lot of third party FPS’s).
And Kinect Adventures at #12? OK whatever.
Yeah.
I guess Kinectamals (is that how you spell it?) could be the sort of thing that would find a natural audience in Japan.
Kinect adventures might also do well over there. As someone posted above, perhaps it would be wise for them to get the ball rolling on Lost Odyssey 2 just in case.
