i'm guessing nobody actually read the article, it is more about how unreal engine can handle a realistic battle situation using the advancements in place in gears of war 2
he isn't saying gears of war 2 is realistic, or even remotely close to it
the guy who wrote this editorial is just fishing for hits
the fact is cliff is one of the most respected guys in the industry and the stuff he said in those other interviews (which that guy linked to) were true
who doesn't think mirrors edge is going to be lame if all you do is run?

i'm not going to say gears 2 is the best game ever, it has a few flaws but largely it is nothing short of a masterpiece
epic outdid themselves on this one, especially in respect to the multiplayer. People complain about the matchmaking but personally i think it is a really slick system
it is filled with little things that make the experience more enjoyable like the achievement trackers, the "whats up" friend list, the photomode, the war journal, everything...
remember when smackdown games were good...and fun?

cod4 couldn't of physically broke first day sales if it wanted to
they didn't expect it to sell like it did and there was actually a shortage of the game around launch, most stores were sold out for about a week after the first day
i know the store i went to had less than 30 copies per system and the manager was upset he had to turn people away

i think you are trash talking the wrong consumer electronic device
not saying that the 360s on display don't have issues, but the known issues are often heat related so one would logically think that thos enclosures would be more open
and again, those enclosures are not properly vented, that isn't even the way microsoft instructs you to operate in your home, it is supposed to be on a hard flat surface in the open not in a lexan fishbowl
an xbox 360 outside that enclosure would last much longer than one inside one and that is fact

GT is a very good, and very well selling title but the general public has very little interest where as the microsoft PR machine turns games like halo 3 and gears of war into huge events that even regular non gamers know about
actually cod4 has sold more than halo 3 across platform

gears of war 2 is making main stream non gaming news constantly, people are watching it, movie studios have changed film release dates so they don't fall on gears 2 weeke...
i wouldn't call those vents, and it doesn't matter who it is designed by...it is a poor enclosure for a 360
that has less ventilation than the average entertainment center and those consoles are on at least 8 hours a day...most likely a lot more because they probably don't shut them down
