Yea, they were discussing it here: https://n4g.com/news/258407...
They're changing Ad providers on Monday and acknowledged it would be rough until that change is made. I told Christopher he should have pinned it, so people at least understand the reasoning.
This was meant to ride off of the Assassin's Creed Black Flag hype... a PS4/XBox One launch title. That tells you something right there. This should have been killed off years ago. It doesn't even have the awesome ship boarding of Black Flag. That was the part that truly felt amazing in 2013, I had never experienced anything like that in a pirate game.
Why don’t pirates shower before they walk the plank? Because they’ll just wash up on shore later. Arrrr! 💀
@Peeekingduck thanks for the head's up, it's good to have that communication because now I feel relieved to know it was an expected issue and I can wait for it to be resolved. I'll just hang out more on my desktop for the time being.
I'd still make a pinned post on it, bc I think it'll make the community more patient and understanding.
@Christopher Thanks for forwarding the issue to PDuck.
@Christopher yea, I get what they want to do... but Microsoft always wants to aim high with huge numbers (which is why they won't jump into VR yet, they view it as too niche, unprofitable) I just can't see a reason why someone would buy a restrictive XBox handheld over a PC Handheld which already run XBox PC titles natively. (w exception of like MS Flight Simulator. Doubt we'd see that on an official MS handheld bc of the need for a huge rolling cache) I think it would have made...
Holy crap, yours is worse than mine! 😂
@Christopher if you see this, I hope you guys are working on a fix? Can you address in a pinned post that it's being worked on?
We can't close the Ad and it takes 1/3rd of the screen. When we close, it asks for feedback. When we select "Ad covered content" it just goes to a message saying "Ad closed by Google". .. but the square doesn't leave. We refresh, and go through it all over again.
@darthv72 Yea, I can understand that if you already have a large library of Xbox games, especially if it's backwards compatible. It's not going to win any converts though. All of my XBox games have been on PC since they starting coming in the XB1 era. Really, Steam Deck, Rog etc are a real win if you're not already invested w a huge library bc you can also play some of the Playstation titles that have hit PC.
LOL @crazyCoconuts that's probably the big twist. Microsoft announces that they bought ASUS... "Look what we made!" 😂
@NotoriousWhiz ok, but that sounds like a more niche subsection of the already existing Portable PC market. Steam Deck really isn't that complicated, and if anything has more options with mod support.
Forza Horizon 5 already runs amazingly natively, no streaming..

Nintendo's success is driven by its super strong 1st party lineup. XBo...
This feels pointless as long as the Steamdeck and other portable PC options exist. This would have been huge 10 years ago, but it would seriously have to do something above and beyond what Steam, ROG and the others have already established. Gamepass already exists on them too. It just feels like it's too late.
One week is no big deal.
I have seen my Nintendo nostalgia ramping up again this last year, so I'm excited for the next Direct. I don't know if it's bc of my kids or just becoming nostalgic for my childhood again, but I've been playing my Switch a lot more than I had in the last few years. It IS time for a new console though, it's feeling dated. Nintendo, Playstation and PC are the trifecta - all I need in my gaming life.
Microsoft never waits for the probing to be consensual.
I bought the original at launch back in 99 bc I had just gotten my first gaming pc for graduation. I loved the game, the graphics felt amazing and smooth for a late 90's game when most other games of that period felt like polygonal cardboard cutouts, and the soundtrack quality was above and beyond most everything of that time period.
With that said.... the recent remake from a few years ago was really weak. What passed as cool spoken dialogue in 99 now felt archaic, abs...
Some exclusives are just that good!
Do you happen to know what the price will be? I don't see it in the article or the Steam page. I paid $40 at launch on PSVR, but if they can hit $15-20 on Steam, it'll be an easy day one purchase. :)
*edit - oh man, mod support will be amazing! That'll move some units.
I used to play this a ton in beta on PSVR. It definitely feels lower budget, but at the same time is a lot of fun. I'd pick this up again.
I used to spend all afternoon at the SEARS' Virtual Boy demo unit while my mom shopped the Mall. I chose to hang out in SEARS bc there was hardly ever anyone hanging out there unlike Babbages or KB Toys. There was never really a line of people.
I got to try most of the major titles. It was a fun memory, but it's not something I would have ever wanted to own.
@just_looken aah yea, I remember seeing something about that.
“Do you play as a pirate or do you play as a boat?” went round in circles as management tried to decide what kind of game to make."
Man, what a disaster. People wanted Black Flag online, we're getting something else. Let it die.
