Not normally a fan of Ubisoft but giving credit where it is due - this is a very consumer friendly move where they really had zero obligation to do anything.
So why would someone want to disable this? Disk space?
I’m still hoping we get a quick resume for PC some day/
Why would you feel sorry for a corporation that is making tens of billions of dollars every year in gaming?
Nothing to feel sorry about there.
@Silly I wouldn’t consider the current PS5 vs XSX sales as “dominating”. It’s close, far closer than last gen.
Nintendo on the other hand is dominating PS and Xbox with ease. Regularly outselling them by 2-5x.
Famitsu’s latest sales figures showed that around 98.5% of hardware sales in the region were Nintendo products, and 9 of the top 10 software sales were on Switch.
So yes, they’re in the same bucket - both are being dominated by Nintendo.
Agreed that Nintendo dominates Japan. PlayStation and Xbox have basically been wiped out there.
I don't see it having much impact really. XCloud, PS+, GeForce Now etc are doing perfectly fine. Stadia was a minnow in the space and thus won't really impact the others.
Is it really though? The rest of cloud gaming (minus Luna) continues to go strong & grow.
Well, they also sort of had to. When the Dreamcast went down the toilet, you could still keep the console and play games etc - the same cannot be said for Stadia.
That being said, I think they're being extremely liberal by refunding EVERYTHING. It could've probably only been titles purchased recently and older purchased titles with little play time. But perhaps it's compensation for lost game progress etc.
Wait time is a factor in the quality of customer support.
Explained in one word: Pain.
Being able to afford $70 and thinking $70 is an appropriate, consumer friendly price point (especially for such an old game) are two entirely separate things.
Also, there are plenty of people who ARE gaming on a budget. Corporate greed shouldn't price people out of their favorite entertainment medium.
@Crimson Hopefully not. I always consider Activision (and especially COD) as outsiders because they know they can basically do crazy things with COD and people will still buy it.
But this is even worse tbh, at least COD MW2 is a 'new' (used loosely) game. Skyrim is ancient, and there's nothing in the Switch version that justifies it being $20 more than PS5.
@Captain I doubt Microsoft buying things will kill any platform/device/service really.
If Microsoft buying Zenimax did indeed kill Stadia, then Stadia was doomed from the beginning if the entire house was bet upon one publisher, which would be a very naive move. You can guarantee Sony and Nintendo aren't going to shutdown services or stop producing hardware because Zenimax games went exclusive.
Is it in the parking lot out back? With flammables and/or shotguns?
Yeah... it's also weird that the PS5 version is $50 and this is $70, because sure the Switch version is portable and you could say that is a value add, but it's also going to be the worst place to play Skyrim in terms of visuals and performance.
That article is 1.5 years old. They aren't blaming the Stadia service shutdown on Microsoft. But why would it be shocking to hear Phil Harrison say that anyway?
To be honest, no one is to blame for Stadia's death other than Google.
I had to Google what a Scouser is - but I agree. If anything, the whole US thing has been overdone. I'm up for one last visit to Vice City but then they should look at a more interesting place.
I may need to go back and play The Getaway again now - the aiming/shooting mechanics feel a bit dated nowadays, but it's still a solid experience - and great story.
Why is this $70? It's $50 on every other platform. Hopefully a pricing mistake.
XCloud, PS+ and GeForce Now are all popular and well received - why should they shut up shop because Google did? Google who kills things regularly…
