PS5 Sony has been a pretty big culture shock coming from PS4.
Last gen they were super pro consumer and seemed to really care about gamers (despite being a corporation).
This time around they’re behaving more like Microsoft in the past, like a corporation that only cares about $$$ and not about gamers.
Sadly I don’t think that’ll change until Jim and Hulst go, and they won’t go while Sony is raking in cash selling $70 remasters, console...
Subjective though - for me if the two games are visually identical but one is 30 and one is 60, that’s a huge delta in terms of playability and experience for me.
But it is subjective for sure, there will definitely be people who feel the current state of next gen just isn’t worth $500 and that’s fine.
And us consumers / PS gamers should bear the burden of that? No.
Let’s stop pretending Sony is a tiny start-up. They may not be as big as Microsoft but they’re still a huge corporation with lots of funds.
I’d say yes. While there are barely any actual next gen exclusives / games pushing the new consoles - the cross gen games are still night and day between the two generations - 60fps alone is worth it IMO - but value is subjective too.
Elden Ring & From are going to sweep the table on awards this year. And it’ll be well deserved when they do.
Not super convinced on the art style but I’ll wait and see a proper gameplay trailer before making my final decision.
They could’ve also just given us a remake of NFSU 🤷
Are you insinuating there’s some kind or conspiracy or pay off? Because this happens all the time.
It happened with GT7 too. Great reviews followed by customer backlash over always online and microtransactions. A lot of the time the more controversial features aren’t enabled until after reviewers play the game - as was the case with GT.
Reviewers unfortunately are very out of sync with general consumers / gamers on a lot of things when it comes to MP and ...
Terrible customer service. They’ve now fixed the bugs but are still saying “all sales are final”.
Time to step up your game Blizzard.
Crash 4 was great. Glad we're getting more it seems!
Tbh, I know everyone is raving about COD etc, but Crash + Spyro are actually the two things I'm most excited about with Activision being acquired.
Make regular Crash + Spyro games a thing. Let Toys For Bob run wild on them.
I had fun with this and the last entry too. Short games, but pretty enjoyable if you like stealth games.
Pretty much the same I'd say, the only real difference is in favor of MS Rewards - you can get store credit and gift cards for other stores, so you aren't required to go re-spend your rewards in their store.
Not hugely surprising nor does it really mean anything, probably standard fare for most games that have quests attached to them.
@Captain The game was #1 for purchases during and immediately after the beta.
Like I said, for a 'trash game', it'll somehow manage to generate more revenue than any other game released this year and will outperform them post-launch too 🤷 Anyone who thinks otherwise is living in a fantasy world and will be in for a rude awakening later this month.
There's a reason why Microsoft values it at ~70bn, and why Sony is kicking up such a ...
Finally, the game I've been waiting for and purchased my PS5 for 😝
"COD was going downhill before the Microsoft and Activision acquisition"
The facts say otherwise though. It's regularly the #1 or #2 top played game on PS & Xbox, trading places with Fortnite. It's also consistently the highest revenue generating game.
So by your logic, all other games must be going REALLY downhill because they're performing far worse.
"It's just a matter of time for the next big innov...
Yeah... I'm interested to see how that plays out, especially if FIFA has their own one out by then. It'll be an interesting test of brand loyalty and consumer awareness.
Congrats - well deserved.
That’s a very naive way of looking at things though. Does winning mean selling more consoles? If the Xbox part of Microsoft is raking in cash from COD etc, they’re also winning.
Dollars are the key metric - by which medium you get them is irrelevant really.
Sort of. Sony would get 30% because any digital transactions via the PS Store yield them a 30% share.
But the other way of looking at that is, it's a 70% gain for MS because right now they get 0% of COD sales on PS.
Pretty impressive numbers - almost 30% of their overall revenue. And that number doesn’t even include PC subscribers - only console.
I’d be interested in seeing the profit margins (although I get that Cade wouldn’t be interested in that when trying to determine market share) - profits must be good though, there’s no way the catalog costs anything close to even 1bn.
There are some legs on this GamePass thing.
