Need For Speed Un.... bound

They almost did it!

Sorry but those 10fps waves look AWFUL. Once you see it you can't unsee it.

Oddly, it didn't look like that the last time I played it, maybe they broke them in a patch.

Yeah, but that's actually nothing in the grand scheme of things. Sony has about 4% of Epic, Tencent has 40%.

Also, even as an investor, they still need to pay licensing fees for UE.

I think you missed a whole bunch of huge IPs there.

Call of Duty (incl Warzone), Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tony Hawk, Diablo, Hearthstone, Overwatch, Starcraft, World of Warcraft & Warcraft all-up. Plus all the mobile counterparts, and the games that King has.

There's a reason why Activision are worth ~$70bn. Attempted downplays are moot when Sony and Jim Ryan themselves are running around telling anyone who will listen how big of a deal acquiring A...

@darth Yeah I agree. I really don't see CoD going exclusive, especially Warzone (F2P exclusive games just don't make sense).

But if it did, I don't see many people saying "screw PS I'm going to buy an Xbox", people buy a console for many games, not just one, and I'd say the biggest allure of a PS is the first party titles, not Call of Duty.

Now that the full text is available... there are some interesting tidbits:

"Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the central objective of CADE's activities is the protection of competition as a means of promoting the well-being of Brazilian consumers, and not the defense of the particular interests of specific competitors."

"In this sense, although it is recognized that part of the users of PlayStation consoles (from Sony) cou...

Agreed, Also on "I think in 5 years' time we will experience the largest game industry change since the late 90s."

Definitely. The other thing worth keeping an eye on on the EU front is their review of app stores & digital storefront revenue splits. If they do ultimately rule that 'closed ecosystems' must allow other stores to exist, and/or that they cannot take a 30% cut - the games industry is going to under-go some serious change there.

That'll probably apply to most of the world too. MS is in bed with a lot of governments, whether that's through the economy & jobs they create, or through government partnerships (e.g. the Azure and military deals they have with the US govt).

I think the reality is, most governments don't really care about games/gaming at all. It's still seen as a 'silly little thing' or 'hobby' and not a serious business/industry as far as they're co...

First country (that we know of) that Sony filed complaints in, and they fell on deaf ears I guess.

There's a few things at play there typically:

1. If a studio already has experience and tech/tools built up around UE (think Coalition), the cost to migrate to ID's engine may be very high.

2. Most engines aren't as flexible as Unity and Unreal, in the sense that they were made for a shooter game, have ~20 years of shooter game feature development and therefore aren't suitable for say a racing game or open world game. You could develop the...

The game is a complete turnaround from what they launched with after all the patches. It's actually a pretty decent game now - I recommend checking it out, it's pretty cheap too!

@Sully Kinect was not a mandatory/forced purchase when it sold 20m.

@RauLeCreuset No one is required to put any stock in my critiques or opinions. Infact, I'd encourage people to do their own research and form their own :)

Also, I never said I spent $150 on anything?

But anyway, none of what you've written here changes the fact that VR on the best selling console of the generation, only managed a ~4% attach rate.

Makes sense, standardize upon one internal engine across all your studios as best you can. Also avoids giving money to Epic for UE.

I always thought the ND engine titles looked better than Decima titles though, but perhaps that engine is less flexible than Decima.

I could list about 20 other Sony owned games they SHOULD be remaking/remastering before HZD 🤦

Wait for it to show up on GamePass in a bit or buy the PC version - it's $60 on Steam.

"Why did N4G give TLOU remake such shit for being $70 but act like this is normal?"

It's pretty easy to explain:

- Dead Space came out in 2008, has never had a remaster, and is currently only playable on PC & Xbox
- TLOU1 came out in 2013, had a remaster in 2014, that remaster is fully playable on PS4 & PS5. It did not need another remaster/remake.

"Both are ps3 games, and to be honest it seems like n...

@Elda It will inevitably hit EA Play/Access, at which point it automatically shows up in GamePass Ultimate & PC GamePass too.

Plague Tale & Scorn are the most interesting for me.

Not a surprise. They have said that in FY25, so 2024, the majority of investment will be in live service games rather than the traditional story driven singleplayer experiences.

Sony is going the way of Microsoft, just a few years later.

I can’t help but feel that the leadership of Jim Ryan and Hulst just isn’t good overall.

Good for Sony Corp and shareholders, bad for us as consumers and gamers.
