@SurgicalMenace A business consultant who doesn't understand that subscriptions outperform boxed goods - I feel sorry for those consulting you.
I can't wait for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime TV and Spotify etc. to all finally expand into the super profitable boxed movies and music CDs space!
The only part you are correct on is that Sony and Microsoft are doing great right now, better than ever before.
The meager trimmings of GP - ...
My #1 ask is for the game to be on the next gen consoles and not be a Pachinko...
@darkrider Devs should just remove all next-gen graphics functionality including, but not limited to, raytracing and improved shadows and lighting, then every game will run at 8K at a stable 240Hz /s
"69.99 is a small price to pay for greatness"
I guess we found Jim Ryan's N4G account.
"Keep settling for GP offerings"
Keep settling for MSFS, Back4Blood, EA Play, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, Every Zenimax game going forward and many more? It's going to be damn hard to settle for that but I think I can make it work /s
I’d bet Alex has a better understanding of shadows and “lightning” than you do…
If not, please feel free to educate us on the topics.
Oof, 2/10 is brutal.
Meanwhile back in the real world… people are struggling to get Xbox’s, especially at MSRP.
The game is looking a LOT better than what they showed last year and the gameplay feels great. The delay was the right decision.
"that they’ve taken full ADVANTAGE OF THE UNIQUE CAPABILITIES"
That simply isn't true, you only need ONE next gen feature to get the badge.
"Optimized for Series X|S is the broad term for next-generation titles, with many embracing each console's signature features. Those can include boosted resolution, upgraded framerates up to 120 frames-per-second (FPS), or high dynamic range (HDR) for popping colors. "

Please be EW3 - or at least a horror themed game!
@gravedigger The Optimized for Series X|S badge more marketing than technical, it is available to a title that utilizes any component of what MS defines as 'next gen' - e.g. 120hz - it doesn't need to be truly optimized in a engineering sense.
It's clear from the developers statement about rewriting the engine that they did extra work to get to 8K on PS5 that they didn't do on XSX.
Are we now pretending the XSX cannot do 8K despite hav...
Very good move - Bluepoint are a super talented team. They haven't really worked on a new IP before so I'm really excited to see what they come up with!
And where did Satya Nadella announce the 18mil figure? Oh right, during an end of quarter earnings call, not a consumer event 🤦♂️
Thanks for proving my point. Next you’ll be telling me Strauss Zelnick has no ties to the games industry.
For a supposed marketing manager, you don’t seem to have even a basic grip on how a business operates.
That's not how big corporations with share prices work. Every announcement/PR is carefully planned out and scheduled, and tied to fiscal year quarters etc.
They don't just wake up, check the subscriber count and think "We hit 30mil, lets announce it right now!"
If they were at 18mil in January, were rumored to be at 25m a few months later, and have had big releases this year coming day 1, with more big titles like Halo, B4B and Forza in ...
Microsoft has previously announced official figures in January and these were detailed as active subscribers. This is how subscribers are reported throughout the tech industry.
The cumulative number of people who didn't renew their paid subscription or $1 trial in the last 4 years, is likely way higher than 12 million, and even 30 mil.
GOW was good, but wouldn't be my choice of 'best game'. Lots of great games missing from that list, unless I missed them - like MGS2, Silent Hill 2... and I loved TLOU but Snake Eater was a better game.
Also Rise of the Tomb Raider is not even close to HL2, never mind better...
If they are inactive / didn't renew their subscription, they won't be counted as an active subscriber.
This is current subscriber count, not cumulative for the entire history of GamePass.
The last official update from MS was back in January and was 18 mil.
If they've gained another ~12 mil in 8 months, and still have big games like Halo, Forza & Back4Blood to launch, that is impressive.
Yep, the Switch consistently nails it every month. It's crazy how well it is still selling.
It’s clear that is their end goal, they’re a business after all and are out to make as much money as possible.
