Love the disagrees from people that don't know how FreeSync works. The game will have to run at 48fps or higher for adaptive refresh rate support to work on all Samsung 4K TVs. If you drop below 48Hz the tv will go back to 60Hz and you'll experience all the regular pitfalls of v-sync or Ubisoft will have to introduce tearing.
You are missing my point or are being deliberately obtuse. The first game only targets 30fps on all consoles so if they're doing a variable framerate with a similar target on the sequel FreeSync will not work very well, as most monitors don't work before 30Hz while many don't even work below 40. In fact, all of Samsung's 2018 4K TVs with FreeSync have a minimum supported refresh rate of 48Hz so again I seriously question how well this is going to work for most FreeSync owners ...
That's not how FreeSync and G-Sync work. The reason variable framerates normally suck has to do with the way vertical sync operates, if the game fails to hit its 16.67ms frame time the game will wait until 33.33ms to display the frame, so that the game's refresh fits within the displays refresh rate, meaning the framerate drops to 1/2, aka 30fps. Triple buffering sort of solves this but then results in judder while adding another frame of latency, as the refresh rate does not match th...
I think you need to research how FreeSync works, if the game doesn't target a framerate higher than 30fps there's no benefit to FreeSync on most displays. If it's targeting 30fps on console like the first game, I can't see this being very useful as I doubt they will take a step backwards graphically from the original game. I actually own an adaptive refresh rate 4K display and the prospect of playing at something like 40fps is not appealing.
So does it run at 60fps then? Most FreeSync displays drop adaptive sync when they hit 30fps or lower.
It will look and run best on the PC where it has raytracing support and framerates higher than 30fps.
A little disappointed that they think a 1080Ti is only good for 1440p60 but I feared this was coming when it was announced as only being 30fps on console as opposed to 60 like its predecessors.
Microsoft has done little this gen to make me want to buy another Xbox next gen. At least I'll be able to play their games on PC without paid online.
This is unfortunate but better than them releasing a bad game. Still have it preordered on amazon with the old preorder discount.
Yeah, it was far from perfect and not as good as I hoped. However, it did live up to the visuals on the original trailer and had a massive and detailed world to explore, truly a technical marvel in my opinion. For those reasons it was still worth a purchase if you have a ps4 or Xbox one.
It's impressive but I question the Switch's longevity given it's already proven unable to run many multiplatform games and the fact that if it sticks around for 5+ years it'll spend multiple of those competing with PS5 and Xbox Two.
That's lower than what was previously suggested but it doesn't surprise me based on the breakdown of multiplatform sales, PS4 is usually more than 2:1 Xbox One.
I'd like weather to have actual impacts on the gameplay, more environment interaction, and the ability to climb more stuff.
Hoping to do 4K60 with my overclocked 1080Ti.
I like Uncharted but am worried by the prospect of the franchise being picked up and continued by another studio.
These products are always dumb. The Switch already has active cooling and the standard dock has ventilation to help the built-in fan pull in the air it needs to cool the device.
I have a 1080Ti and the demo ran okay but the DirectX 12 implementation was very poor and there were issues with the game's screen space reflections on the PC version. I like physical games and often prefer to buy them if I'm paying full price.
This sucks, I pre-ordered it on PC because it was cheaper than the console version. Maybe I should have picked it up on PS4.
That's cool but the RTX Titan does not support HDMI 2.1 so you won't be able to use this $5000 GPU setup to play games in 8K on any of the new 8K TVs shown at CES this year.
I wonder whether Xbox will support cross play next gen if they once again become the console leader.
