The article certainly doesn't shy away from half truths to mislead readers.
For one, it compared Infamous' sales with multiplatform titles, but failed to mention that the game only started selling at the end of May, and had a mere 5 days to make the numbers. Doesn't seem fair, does it?
The only example used for the technical difference in multiplatform titles was the recent Ghostbusters (no doubt the inspiration for this article). Those who are at least honest will r...
I would take quality over quantity any time, and even then, those are impressive numbers for the multiplayer component. The core of the gameplay is extremely satisfying, so much so that any additional feature is a bonus - and it is not lacking in features by any means. At all.
I found kz2 to be very enjoyable in 2009, actually.
People often argued that graphics doesn't matter (when it is convenient for their line of argument). However, good graphics don't exclude good gameplay (those games speak for themselves).
At the end of the day, I would rather game on a console with the possibility of both best graphics and great gameplay, than one with the possibility of achieving the latter only.
what more can I say :)
Underrated yes, I think that is often the case because physics was often 'touch and go" on most games that gamers have learnt not to expect much. From a marketing point of view, it is more impactful to spend CPU/GPU resources on making a pretty game for the screenshots, rather than one that simulated physics well. Even with racing games, it is arguable what gamers at large prefer e.g. arcade vs sim.
While it is within your right to complain about that specifically, I don't think it justifies your continuous sh*t piling on the system that you are supposedly a "fan" of.
LOL at pong commment. How true it is - the father of all games, unless i'm mistaken :)
Most games draw inspiration from each other, really.
Indeed, when it was impossible to deny that PS3 exclusives look better, it became necessary to use "development time" as a new measure for graphical greatness. Those guys never disappoint with fallacies, do they?
What exactly classified you as a "fan"? Ownership doesn't qualify, especially when you seem to bag it all the time.
Just wanted to chime in on how great this game is.
Was really skeptical when I first saw trailers from Japan. Even 5 hours into the game at my friend's place, I wasn't quite convinced. I finally bought the game about a couple of months ago, and ended up spending 200+ hours on the game so far. The game truly grows on you.
The best thing I find about the game is the depth and scalability that it offers. When I first started, I struggled to get through even the very fir...
if Capcom ever considered a PS3 port, i would be happy that they started about now - the MT framework engine is maturing well on the platform.
But they can take their time as demon's soul has been amazing for me :)
Well, just don't delete your GT5P saves yet :) If PD was savvy, they would announce some transferability to GT5 - i'm sure this will spike GT5P sales even more...
"Only on" kotaku.
There are plenty of new things in "sigma" that justifies the label of "only on" PS3.
As mentioned in the conference, Sony is not denying the casual appeal of motion controllers, but at the same time, it recognises that the "gamer's game" needs more precision than what is available on the market. Nintendo recognises it too, hence its M+. It would only be fair that they are both heading in the right direction, at least for me.
Nice post, legend.
Well, there it is, a clear choice for the author - the PSP-3000. The catch is you don't get the smaller form factor, bluetooth, and the 16gb internal memory with potential for 32gb if you add a stick (or even 48gb if you use the above fix). It is up to the consumer whether the price difference is justified by those features, and it is a personal thing.
For example, someone mentioned they would pay a $5 difference, which is ridiculous to me, but it is subjective afterall. Hence, w...
As mentioned, it could have been a lie, or at least a partial truth.
"Lead platform" traditionally meant where the game development began. It is natural to infer that capabilities of the "lead platform" will be maximised, before compromises are made for the other platforms.
Ultimately, the ability to maximise a console's capabilities is dependent on the developer's skill. Who is to say that Terminal Reality had that capability at all in the first ...
@rockleex
A chart that sony haters don't want to see? Priceless! Thanks.
i was surprised to see PS3 selling at a faster rate than the 360, even at twice the price comparing the cheapest SKUs.
Quite obviously, Activision stands to lose more than Sony if they were to follow through (essentially cutting their revenue by more than 30%, it seems. That would become a history lesson in idiocy). 500 million in royalties to Sony, they say? It would only be fair t...
Hmmm, sounds like he doesn't deserve to have one, really.
