Both Zeldas and Final Fantasy were NES games that you could save, but I see your point. As a kid, I remember Land of Illusion for Game Gear desperately needing a save.
Points have evolved into killscores, stats, trophies/achievements, etc.
I still feel like Death Traps still exist, I just can't think of a good example. I guess Dead Space with those gravity tiles that slam you into the ceiling.
Heh, Pyramid Head. Well they have Kratos and Sweet Tooth.
Oh man, Auron would be a nice addition. Course, knowing Square Enix, they would want to milk FF7 some more and put Cloud in there.
I still have and had played Dragon Quest VIII recently, so I'm not missing it as much. Very deserving to be on the list though.
I'm sure Kingdom Hearts will be getting an HD release. It'll give SE something to do while they're busy killing Final Fantasy some more.
@matgrowcott
I respect your insight, but of course like you stated, I'm not convinced that it was an amazing story.
Regarding your first point about the world changing, that's why I appreciated Snake's monologue at the beginning. Having gone through the whole game, his words still held something in the beginning. However, the rest of the story was just a mess or just trying to find a way to tie up a loose end.
Besides the beginnin...
And the square boob, PS1 Lara Croft was better?
Besides, Tifa had a nice attitude, as opposed to Aries's "I'm the dainty, useless chick that needs saving." If we're talking about looks, there's Tifa's updated look in Advent Children.
Even on a business stance, most VG companies are copping out and going for CoD/BF games. Dead Space, Resident Evil, Splinter Cell, are all doing it now and more games to follow.
I mean, look at the games Lucas Arts have now. They can't NOT afford to go with a new BF. A new IP would be more poison to the company. Just stick with what was good, which was the BF series.
*SPOILERS*
I've played every game, many times. Not only were they good stories, but I felt emotion from them. Other than Snake's monologue in the very beginning, what exactly was so great about MGS4's story? No body on N4G has been able to answer that, besides spamming disagrees about anything bad regarding Metal Gear.
Was it Rosemary and Campbell sleeping together? Or was it Raiden showing up out of nowhere and being half robot (this being before...
Just make another Battle Front 3. Seriously. What is so hard about that concept?
It's not a crappy game, therefore they can't make it.
I thought MGS4's story made no sense and tried to tie everything up horribly, but the game was still fun. *awaits the bombardment of disagrees*
With the added trophies, I'd be willing to try it again. Being such a long game, I know that's what stopped people from committing to go through MGS4 all over again.
I'm happy with the current list, but adding Crash would be nice. It does seem missing without him.
I've been hearing constant rumors, especially the recent Raiden (MGS4) announcement. I thought that made sense, being that Rises will be coming out soon (hopefully).
Hmm, I forgot about Tifa.
And I may be gay, but seeing Lara Croft on a 'hottest game character list' is so cliché.
Mario in terms of platforming gaming, no. I'm happy with just a simple plot, with awesome gameplay, like they've been doing. : )
The only time story would make a difference in the Mario universe is an RPG Mario like Paper Mario. Speaking of which, we're long overdue for a SMRPG port to a handheld system. Make it happen Nintendo!
I'm very anti-Capcom/Resident Evil 6; however this is probably the best footage I've seen of the game.
If the majority of the game wasn't co-op/Michael Bay crap, and more of the Ada like gameplay and atmosphere, then I would play it.
I hate the games because I hate the idiots clamoring over them.
Then to suit the needs of the idiots, they make Modern Warfare worse and worse with each installment.
There's nothing Capcom can do to make games better, all of their greatest people left. They should just shut their company down and sell all their licenses to their original creators.
Besides, Capcom themselves want to change the core RE games to fit the mass idiots out there, while outsourcing side-story crap that will still make money for its namesake; all to just make money and nothing else.
I'm surprised there's no mention of EA's failed promotional practices with Dante's Inferno.
And the MW2 thing felt like a cry for attention. As if to say,"Look at me!"
I still have faith in Inafune. Kick Capcom's ass with this game.
I've yet to find enough reason and "commitment" to get a Vita. Cause it's not just the $250 price tag, but I would also need games and a more reasonable memory card, plus protective case and possibly get an extended warranty for the console, if Sony offers one.
I only have a small hand full of PSP exclusives, but they're still fun enough to merit keeping the PSP. I even went out of my way to buy a new PSP in recent months, just to play PSone games on the...
I don't agree about your view on FF VIII, but I agree with the rest of the list. X-2 was fun, but I can see how people feel about it.
I'm a IX fan anyway.
How was the N64 underated? I could see being around the same time as PS1, but it was still insanely popular. Gameboy is also something that was VERY popular. GBC may have been short lived cause I think the GBA would be coming out soon after. Gamecube I agree with. The Resident Evil games and Zelda games I love, yet I remember a lot of hate for the "cube".
I agree with the Dreamcast bit 100%. And I'm not up to speed on how well the PSP did. I remember teenagers s...
