Unpopular opinion but I'll be honest. I'm not into most Playstation exclusives. On PS4, the only exclusives games that interested me enough to purchase were Street fighter V and FF7R. I have a PS5 pretty much for FF16/7 and for PSVR2 which is amazing. I plan on checking out the spider man series and wolverine as well.
I'm also not into xbox exclusives either. I play a handful of game pass games, and a few 3rd party multi-player games with friends.
Yes, not every Nintendo game has no day one patch. But as a percentage, Nintendo games probably have the fewest day one patches.
Developer support definitely can't be understated. Sony had their devs involved all through the process to ensure that they could meet their goals and optimize as best as they could. Microsoft probably did not have any devs helping Arkane and so we all know how that story ended. But on the other hand, Microsoft devs also did Halo infinite, so Microsoft devs may just not have the same level of talent as Sony's devs.

Nah. The full library of games on the series consoles is way better than what there was on the Xbox one. First party games aren't the only games that exist. Playstation is absolutely crushing Xbox, but the full amount of games available on the series is far more diverse than what was on the Xbox one. On top of that, for people that skipped the Xbox one, gamers on series consoles can play a huge chunk of those games with increased FPS.

I can't imagine Nintendo producing a better smash game than ultimate. Roll it forward with a deluxe edition maybe with an extra character or two and call it a day.
Some other developers can try pushing platform fighters to the next level, because I don't think Nintendo is up to the task.
Instead of trying to take away people's creativity, let's use AI to do the jobs others don't want to do. I want some AI drones to come cut my grass for me.
I'm going to assume you're not part of the FGC. However, I am, and I can tell you that there is a ton of overlap between people who play smash competitively and those who play other fighting games competitively.
Now for casuals, there is a lot less overlap between the two for sure.

I hate to break it to you but smash bros has fighting game tournaments so it qualifies.
You don't have to care what anyone says. It's not a traditional fighting game. But it is a fighting game.
FF16 is probably going to be my number one personally, but this is definitely going to be a great year with some real bangers.

Every game isn't 70$. Only the AAA ones and maybe a handful of AA. It is sad that the number of AAA games without microtransactions is dwindling.
Of course M$ and Sony want games like CoD. They earn them plenty of revenue to spend on other endeavors. For Sony, it funds some of their AAA games. For M$, it funds their lawyers and media plants.
