I have no clue how people spend 100 hours on a game they don't enjoy. There are just too many good games out there. If the 1st 5 hours don't capture me, I stop playing. Plenty of games I've started and then decided I'd rather do something else. Breath of the wild included.
I really love reading those steam reviews that are like:
"1000 hours played. This game sucks. Don't waste your time."
@SullysCigar, no one has to upgrade the SSD. If they have an external hard drive, they can just plug that one in and move games back and forth from the internal to the external. Also, if they're doing game pass, the streaming works very well over ethernet if they have a halfway decent internet provider (I think 10mbps down and 1mbps up), so that's another option to save on SSD space.
The only thing really handicapping the series S is the lack of memory, which is holding back Baldur's gate. Other than that it's really not that bad and perfectly fine if you don't need the best possible performance. Still better than last gen at most things. Only exception being textures and resolution.
The question is would it even matter if they dropped the requirement? While we don't have the numbers, I'm willing to bet that there are more Series S than Series X owners out there. So releasing a game on Series X might have dropped the already small potential xbox sales to something significantly smaller. Japan is the only region where we have a decent hardware breakdown and as of 6/25/23, there were 267k Series S and 201k Series X.

I agree that it was a mistake, but there's no going back now. I'm going to enjoy my S until the ship comes crashing down.
On the surface, Switch is everything I wanted it to be functionally speaking. The easy switching for TV / off tv gaming. The ease of connecting controllers for couch co op gaming. Even the joy cons with the ability to just casually hold them with your hands wherever and still game.
What I am sad about is:
- Limited online functionality
- Non standard dpad on the joy cons (though I think there are some 3rd party ones that have a proper dpad)
- Joyc...
@luckytrouble, You're not wrong. The most recent FF games I played were FFX and later FF7R. Both of those have all of what I referenced. Tbh, I do wish FF16 took more cues from FF7R but it's still a fun game.
Super Mario Bros Wonder at 4.5 GB sounds like straight wizardry.
Fun game, but here's a few things I typically expect in a final fantasy game.
- Using status effects / buffs / debuffs to take a tactical approach to battles.
- Taking advantage of enemy weaknesses / immunities with the right elements
- Managing my team in a way to complement my strategy
- Hoarding 100s of items cause you never know when you'll need them
For Nintendo, BC typically only goes back one generation. It's the Switch 3, you'll need to be worried about.
Hi-Fi Rush didn't flop lol. It did exactly as it was expected being released day one on a subscription service.
Lol. If that was really a mistake, then that person is about to be fired.
I use my steam deck more for ps remote play than for any steam games lol.
Wife and 2 kids for me. I don't stress about the ever growing wishlist. I just try to keep it prioritized and get to games when I can get to them. Newer games tend to take priority so I can talk about them with friends, but I pretty much only play 2-4 games per year. This is a strange year for me as I've got SF6, Diablo 4, and FF16 going simultaneously. SF6 has brought me back into the fighting game grind and it is great! I can't pull off a combo to save my life, but my fundamenta...
I'm not a fan of the acquisition but I also don't think any company should be acquiring massive publishers (regardless of whether or not they are a platform holder, so this includes companies like tencent). It only takes a couple of years to go from not having a console to having one and making all those subsidiaries work exclusively for that new console. I also don't think there is precedent for regulators to say: "Sorry tencent but we won't allow you to release a consol...
I've been playing in performance mode and it's been a great experience so far. I think they've done a fantastic job. Doesn't need to be delayed.
While I know this is obvious, but the story has strong GOT vibes. Not a bad thing. I enjoyed GOT. And I enjoy this game and it's story. Just pointing out that this isn't what I would expect from a final fantasy game going into it.
The combat, the limited item management, the limited spells. Yes the environment is all clearly final fantasy but not the gameplay. Great game, but very different from other final fantasy games.
Great so far. I look forward to making my way through it, but they should have called this something other than Final Fantasy as it definitely doesn't feel like a final fantasy game. Feels more like a really solid spin off than a main entry.
Some people prefer games where you spend more time watching than playing, and that's okay. Everyone doesn't have to have the same tastes.
