Didn't they just close a couple of studios? Not sure if I buy the whole "spared" corporate speak.
Zipper was probably one of my favorite developers back for the original Socom and of course Socom 2, I loved old Zipper, back before the dark times, back before the empire...I mean Sony bought them.
If you look at the quality of games they produced before Sony bought them and then after, the quality and sales both went drastically down.

I like Nintendo, cant wait to see what they have up their sleeve. I think its funny how people on this site pretend like Nintendo didn't mop the floor this generation and it wasn't some big powerful machine, it was something fresh and innovative combined with Nintendo's unmatched first party power.
Nintendo has always been a step above the competition, they really showed it this generation. I have a pretty good feeling that they'll show it again with at least ...
They don't cost more, I remember paying $70 for Jet Force Jemini on the Nintendo 64 over a decade ago.
The big question is, what Nintendo franchise ripoff does Sony have in store for us this time?
We've already got a Smash Brother clone and Mario Kart clone on the way, which coincidentally you'll be able to use your Wii Mote clone with.
My guess is, its a game where you use an ocarina and ride a horse and fight an enemy named Manon and you try to save the princess Melda. The character you play as is named Fink.
I think fake Kaz puts it best.

:-( PSN gets hacked once and everybody moans. It's been a whole year since and not once has anyone said "Thanks for not being hacked again!"
On the plus side, thanks to about 10 different PSN accounts, some EU and Jap accounts I added like 6 games to my PS3 library, which was more then the previous couple of years combined!
I also think its funny that thi...
I'll get it in a couple more months when its down to $99, which is about all its really worth. So many technical issues have been reported with it, and its a really small monitor with no tuner, so you cant use it as a television.
Worth it for $60.
I'm really looking forward to playing this new Nintendo...err Sony Super Smash Brothers game! I only hope I can use my Wii Mote...errr I mean Move controller. That new Mario Kart...err Sack Boy Kart? game looks sick too!
I love the innovation Sony has taken to the next level this generation.
You don't think speaking something is easier and more convenient then scrolling through a list of shouts, equipping one and then using it?
Also you can use Kinect with quick save, fast travel, weapon switching, item sorting and you can even tell your companion to wait or follow or to attack.
That is convenience not seen since hotkeys on a keyboard.
Its all supply and demand, its not like there is a yearly or bi-yearly Mario game.
Its all relative really, is there a God Of War or Ratchet And Clank overkill? I just think its all in the eye of the beholder.
For some people maybe a franchise got old a while ago, while there are many new fans to these games with each iteration.
People sometimes think the number of gamer's doesn't grow, which is ridiculous.
Wait, your right! One building sure proves that everything is exactly cut and pasted from every single COD game. Good call on catching that, guess I'll go back to COD4 and put my chopper gunner killstreak on, shoot down some UAV's, use host migration, play some Kill Confirmed, use my trophy system and my UMP.
Some people are just so ignorant, its not the same game. I guess its the same style, just like Gears is the same style online, just like Uncharted is the same style...
There is a little point to it. Microsoft cut back exclusives in 2011, it takes probably two or three years to make a game with new hardware. So your looking at 2013 or 2014 for Microsoft.
Sony is still using their top studios to create exclusives for the PS3, they do have more resources overall then Microsoft, but it would seem with a new God Of War and the Last Of Us on the way that 2013 or 2014 are much more feasible for the PS4 as well.
I think Sony cant ...
No offense, but Sony jumbles releases of games together all the time. I have my doubts that The Last Of Us will see release this year.
We all assume their will be new consoles next year, but even if they come in November or December of 2013, you'll need more than one game to play until that point.
I always looked at this game as a 2013 game at the earliest.
Ya, if you used to like Socom before Sony ruined them, you'll probably like this game.
You could say the same thing about the PlayStation Move against the Wii. Technically superior but the Move is pretty soulless in comparison to the Wii.
vita has nice specs, buy lacks the killer apps and it seems Sony doesn't have a habit of producing quality first party games on their handhelds.
Yes, lets talk about 2011's WW totals...oh wait...The Xbox 360 won that.
In all seriousness it looks like the PS3 did get another price cut this year. The 160 gig PS3 is now only $199 at Amazon and Gamestop. I'm sure more are to follow.
I think Microsoft didn't have to answer the first price cut from Sony, but they'll have to answer this one. I say lower the 250 gig Xbox 360 to $249 and lower the 4 gig to $129.
A little surpris...
They backed themselves into a corner with that ridiculous story in the last Metal Gear, Snake is too old to do anything now.
I guess they could prequel it up and confuse more people? When you've painted yourself into a corner, its prequel time. Just ask the people making God of War 4, I mean God Of War Ascension.
2011 was probably one of the best years of all time. I've never spent so much on games in a single year.
Homefront
Crysis 2
Portal 2
Mortal Kombat
Marvel Vs Capcom
Gears Of War 3
L.A. Noire
Batman Arkham City
Forza 4

And those are just the ones I remember.

Isn't today the big MW3 boycott? Must be why there is like 500,000 people on XBL right now.
There were so many superior handheld's out soon after the original Game Boy. The Sega Game Gear and the Atari Lynxx were both color and had some great games, but Nintendo as always, just seems to have handheld's on lock.
I think part of the problem was the cost of those other handheld's and the battery issues. It used to take a boat load of batteries for both of those, while the Game Boy ran off two AA's for like 8 or 12 hours.
Some things n...
