the i5's only allow 2* 8pci express lanes per card when using 2 gpu's, so getting an i5 would gimp your gaming rigs longevity, even with current dual gpu's like gtx295 or 4870x2, or sli or crossfire setups lose performance on i5 rigs, and it's not just the p55 motherboards that limit it, the inbuild pci-e controller in the i5's does,
so i5 is a great budget option to rival cpu performance of the i7's....when you have 1 gpu
then next series of cards will be be cut of...

i think you'll find that pc has come further since the time of the ps3/360's inception even with the hardware variances which you claim to be a hindrance. F.E.A.R ( the first game) was released around the same time and pc games have become so much more advanced since then, the obvious games : crysis, crysis warhead aside, Farcry 2 , dead space and many other multiplats are graphically superior and can run at higher frame rates and better graphical fidelity, on reasonably weak hardware.

something tells me that these are either fake........or just don't make sense, gtx295sli only gains about 5 frames, and i know they scale better than that, the 5870 scales as badly as well if these bench marks are anything to go off

that was my only thought too, maybe their using a p55 motherboards with only 8 pci-e lanes per card, it wouldn't be the first time i've seen reviewers do something stupid like that, this series of cards will really get everything ...
hmm that is a decent gain, but when the gt300 comes out it had better be more than a 50% improvement, seriously, from 30frames average in crysis warhead on very high (and that's in dx9 mode) to 45, and still not have any antialiasing...that's just weak, especially seeing as both cards will cost $500aus +
