Then thats the max resolution your tv can accept. You need a 1080p tv to get the 1080p signal the 360 and the ps3 can output. Thats the reason MS decided to target 720p and 1080i games. Like you, most people's tvs output 720p and 1080i. Very very few people have 1080p tvs. So the feature that sony fans brag about most is the feature that not many people can utilize.
BTW...on the same link I gave, there are dvi to hdmi connectors as well. So you could change your vga to h...
Yes its true...you need vga or hdmi to do the 1080p (for movies only)....Componant will do 1080p for games....
But to solve all that...you can buy a vga to dvi adapter for less than 10 dollars and there you have it. Vga anolog to full dvi digital. And you get 1080p out for both movies and games.

Its a tad biased being since it comes from Mr. Marbles.....He is the Sony editor at Gamepro.com. Its neat to see he actually tried to be fair by naming a couple 360 games in his top 8. But he clearly favors the ps3 in all of his editorials...being that he is the Sony editor for the site. We'll see who wins the most awards from this years show.

Maybe its time for you to get a new tv buddy. On my TV it looks better than the screen shots. The brand of tv, the type of tv, the resolution you have the game set at, and the resolution of your TV makes a huge difference. Maybe you don't have your componant cable switech to HI DEF. My friend did the same thing and played the 360 for months before I showed him that he didn't switch the actual switch on the componant cable. Forza 1 hands down from every reveiw site beat out GT4 in head to head comparissons. The only area GT4 beat Forza in was the SALES of the game. But thats to be expected when its the console with 100 million plus install base and its their premier title...But with that said...Forza got better reviews and won every comparisson. The cell is not suited for Game Code. Its best suited for video streaming. You try to pack game code on 7 spe's and one struggling PPU....its only common sense you will have hardware failures. Thats the price you pay for attempting to be sooooooo innovative....inventing your own Cpu....they should have figured with the bismal Yields the Cell was getting....I knew this would happen. PS3's will break at a record pace due to the cell and blu ray. and if games try and do 1080p its common sense when you have unproven hardware in your machine it will be pushed too hard and break down. You can't copy a system that isn't even released yet. Fact of the matter is, The 360 will be first to have all the features the yet to be release ps3 has and then some. So people can talk about copying....and its silly...its about who does it the best...who offers it first....who has the best price.....if someone copies somthing...they can get sued. I guess you got some bad luck if we assume you are telling the truth...but I have 6 360's since launch and haven't had any problems. And I have 8 friend locally that have 360's as well, and they haven't had any problems...So, yes there are always problems with new systems. And MS is taking care of what ever issues "some" people may have had with "free" repairs and a free extended warranty. But the point is the ps3 was bound to have major issues. What happens when you put unproven tech in a box and try to push it too hard running games in 1080p? ha ha ha ha...You get overheating on the first day at the show. So when you get it home...you think you have a future proof system to next 10 years and it don't even make it past 10 hours. And you spent over half a grand on it...WOW. Like Eternal said.
