I'm finding Dark Souls' story to be fascinating. I think it really hinges on the players imagination as well. It's a 'less is more' type of thing.
You're not hand fed how to play or what you are playing. The imagery and the interactions with NPCs are enough to give you an idea to make your own. I feel more like I, myself, am the character thrust into the world of Dark Souls rather than other game where my avatar's background and events lead...
I only said it could be done. Yet for that to occur one will need to spend well over 60hrs playing/memorizing everything.
I think I found DemonS to be more difficult than DarkS. I think that Hollow in DarkS is not as punishing as being a ghost in DemonS.
I am planning on playing DemonS again just cuz it was such a good game as well.
But I don't play the Souls games cuz others think them challenging. I play them cuz they are really enjoyable for me. I love fantasy hack n' slash and the Souls games really have the combat structure down compared to others.
I stopped getting slow-down moments after I loaded it to my HDD(can't remember the exact term).
I'm in and about the late 60's in hours and idk how far I am from completing it. I kinda poke around and lvl alot and explore everything though.
However, it can be done in under 2hrs if you know what you are doing. That guy's run was crazy.
Funny. There's several routes you can always take. Since it's an open world I found my way up to the Gargoyle fight well before I ever found the way down to the Depths/Blightown. First run in with Quelaag(sp?), I Homeward Boned and went exploring like you say. So, by the time I faced Quelaag again I had rung a bell, cleared Darkroot Garden/Basin, found my way down to Ash Lake.
Just used that tactic again with the boss in Sen's Fortress. Came back last night ...
What exactly are they going to nerf about it? I haven't really kept up on potential updates to DS...
I want the ring, myself. Mainly so when an invader comes a knockin' I will be slippery to kill. I'm not much of an invader or a liar (meaning all my messages are true) in Dark Souls.

I got invaded by a player the other night... he had the Ring of Fog so I couldn't target him and a flaming sword... I died.

I really couldn't agree more. Really loving this game. It's made me push buying BatmanAC and probably SKYRIM off until they have their ultimate editions. I'm happy as clam with just playing Dark Souls for the time being.

I'm not as far as you by any means... but I just wasn't seeing the usefulness of anything other than Drake's. I really need to start upgrading more weapons, gah!!!!
Nah... not the Hydra in Darkroot Basin. I already found/killed that one. I'm talking about the one at the bottom of the Great Hollow in Ash Lake. As far as I can find the only way out is back up the tree. Correct me if I'm missing something though.

I'll get really far and then take an eleavator, staircase, or ladder only to find out that I'm right back where I was fretting about getting back to... when I opened the door in Darkroot Basin and found that armored dude with the club just on the other side I might have pooped myself... again. I just got to Blight Town... it's not so bad so far... but I'm not treading out into the muck too much and haven't found the boss yet. Found the way into the Great Hollow though. Got dedz from a shroom-parent... those things are awesome looking but scary.
I love this game so far... every day I can't wait to play more of it.
I think it just up to parents to know what is appropriate for their children and actually take an active role in knowing what entertainment their children are partaking. Don't want your kid playing Dark Souls ... that's up to you. With great sex comes great responsibility.

They got 10/10 from Game Informer and I can't remember that ever happening since I've been reading it.
This game shall be amazing. The first one was amazing. I'm looking forward to playing it... but I'll wait til it comes down in price on Amazon or something cuz right now my wallet is hurting and I have Gears3, Ico/SotC, Dark Souls and a few other games I haven't yet finished.

I was very addicted to SSX Tricky... hate that song from all the restarts but such a good game. Wish I could play the xbox version I bought used on my 360 but last time I checked backwards compatability wasn't supported for it /sadface
An upgrade to the droprate for Humanity sounds awesome. Kinda wish it was just a little less than 210 though, lol. Seems a bit high to me. But it will make the Human-side of Dark Souls a bit more accessible and possibly foster more PvP and Co-op if Humanity isn't so freaking valuable to miser away... like I do.
