I still pre-order but my pre-orders are much fewer now. Used to pre-order a ton, but since I went digital, game costs have gone up, many games don't live up to their hype, and I have to pay attention to the "Total Cost of the Game", I have stopped pre-ordering almost entirely. Now, I wait for the game to come out and assess if and when I will buy it.

Yup.

When you have a winning formula there is nothing wrong with do much the same.

I wouldn't want to see a yearly or bi-yearly release, but once every 3-5 years would be perfect for this franchise.

And in the last gen when x360 was killing it, PS3 fanboys were the only ones that cared.

I would hope that gamers learn, and realize this is an effort by companies to divide gamers for marketshare,

It only matter because gamers make it matter.

Gamers buy into company marketing on exclusives making it a differentiator for a console purchase.

I buy all the consoles for my gaming room but not everyone does. It would save me significant money (and HDMI ports) if I only bought one and could play with anyone on any system and play every game. These three things are the last impediments to the ending of console wars and the start of a world where gamers ...

So, you know all about the incentive, payment, and cost model in these subscription services?

Please enlighten us, as all we have heard from devts is singing praises about their profits from this. Please cite one article where a devt is saying that they are getting ripped off by going into subscription services.

I disagree that it is ironic.

Insomniac tried to go on its own. They discovered being on their own wasn't good so they came back home.

There is nothing ironic about it, it was more a journey of self-discovery.

I love remakes and remasters where they actually remake and remaster the game to modern standards... Resident Evil 2 is the best example of this.

Remasters and remakes that are just ports from previous generations are just naked money grabs from the Publisher/Developer.

I hate apples to oranges comparisons.

- These are two different consoles with different gamer demographics
- PS4 had an install base of 80 million consoles when God of War shipped not the XB 40 million.
- The games are from different genres

The only people that really care are people that want console wars.

I don't track how many have been sold by anything I buy. Why should I track my console vendor?

There have been lots of bad games long before Microsoft entered console gaming.

@King_Noctis
The game is very good and deserving up to and including 9's. But there are quite a few glitches and bugs on release. Otherwise I would give it a perfect score.

For me, Gears is just different. It is gritty, the weapons are unique, there are lots of different weapons, the characters are interesting, and the game is just pure fun. Especially when taking out the lancer chainsaw!

Microsoft has acquired a lot of excellent studios. Many were investment constrained in delivering their games as independents but still delivered really popular or cult classic games... Fallout New Vegas, Forza Horizon, Dungeon Seige III, Pillars of Eternity, South Park Stick of Truth, Contrast, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Hellblade, Heavenly Sword, Minecraft, Wasteland, Enslaved, and State of Decay.

Lots of games that a lot of core gamers know and love in ...

They've already made PS4 PSNow games downloadable.

The final step is saying first party games come to PSNow on day one then the services are mostly equal.

This article is beyond flawed. It starts off that saying that this a battle for casuals. By definition nothing about PCs is for casual gamers. To do gaming on PC you need an appropriate PC, knowledge of the way PCs work with games, and be proficient with keyboard and mouse in games.

None of these appeal at all to a casual gamer. A casual gamer wants to pick up a device, controller, plug it in, and it just works and provides them the infrastructure and services for gamin...

Gamers just keep on shooting themselves in the foot.

Boycott this, boycott that, encourage games to fail, etc.

Borderlands 3 feels just like the first two borderlands games. Nothing wrong with more of the same. Sure, it won't be game of the year, but it still is a good game.

Nope. I am on GamePass Ultimate so both Live and GamePass subscription together for both PC and console.

Tons of games, tons of fun...

Also it is Canada so unfortunately our dollar isn't high enough to get the US price.

Hard to see how one game changes everything.

I think the game changer was MS acquiring so many good studios. And they are all studios that have proven they can develop games that will be 80+ on metacritic consistently. I think the stated goal is that MS releases a new game from its stable of studios once per quarter starting next generation. If this is true MS will be consistently shipping good first party games. That excites me more then Gears 5 has.

I would love Sony to make all PSNow games downloadable and put first party exclusives on PSNow day one. Make my subscription even more worth it!

Who in their right mind would buy Gears 5 as a stand alone purchase when it is part of the gamepass subscription?

$20 / month gamepass or $60 to buy the basic version....

Let me take out my rocket scientist calculator..... Ummmmmmmm....

That is like comparing Blu-ray sales to Netflix. Why would you ever do that? They are not apples-to-apples. If you want to live in the world of $60 per game that is up to you... I quit buying CDs a...
