I continue to pre-order less and less games. There is no real incentive anymore.
You buy for day one. $60 for the base version $99 for a season pass version, and then in a month they discount it and you wasted your money.
Crazy but possible prediction:
Microsoft buys Spotify and Netflix for some ridiulous amount.
Then, renames XBox Game Pass Ultimate to the Xbox Ultimate Entertainment Pass.
There are a couple games I would put on the list....
Pole Position was one of the first real good racing games of all time.
And I would put Project Gotham Racing in there too as it was one of the first racing games to add "style" as a reward in racing.
I would remove Project Cars off the list. I don't see it bringing anything that GT or Forza Motorsports did not.
It is on EA Access so it is pretty much free now.
I ask the Publishers and Development Studios to remember there are gamers (mostly not billionaires) buying their games and that some of the monetization models they use are absolutely predatory and wrong.
My preference is for every gamer regardless of platform be able to play the next game.
My reality is I own all three consoles so it really doesn't matter. It is just very disappointing to me that XB and Switch only gamers may not be able to afford having a second or third console and therefore not be able to play it. Nobody should be coerced into having to buy a specific console to play a specific game. Games are for everyone, not for some console owners but not othe...
Yes, and if you wait long enough not only do you get the game, you can usually get the "complete" edition cheaper then people who bought it at launch. Not really encouraging consumers to run out and buy your game.
Yup so I quit buying day one, because there is no reward if i can't play it day one.
Now if they included the season pass for day one buyers that would be something.
This is why I don't buy a lot of games day one anymore.
Control, a month old is getting discounted. What encouragement is there for anyone to buy a game on day one anymore?
I downloaded Gears 5 on GamePass day one and am working my way thru the 20 hrs of campaign. Meanwhile I bought Borderlands 3 day one a week later and still have yet to get to it.... If it goes on sale before I start it, it will have been waster money.
The day ...
I am probably the only person on the planet that is interested in this game!
I think this will be one of the better Sept-Dec this year.... Gears 5, Borderlands 3, Jedi Fallen Order, and Doom Eternal for sure.
Interested in Death Stranding as well, but isn't really my type of game from what I have seen.
I haven't bought CoD for two years now. Make it three!
Is Sony not in a marketing deal with Activision where PS4 gamers get stuff early?
At one time, that was called money-hatting and was frowned upon. Now its ok?
My point.... All companies are idiots.
@TheOptimist
Name one company that is not shitty.
Companies exist to make money, the more money they make the more notable and investment they get, eventually their growth levels and they have to find new ways to make money or investors bail and bankrupt them, they find new ways by upselling, selling more, microtransactions, etc. Name one company that truely is not guilty.
It will still have downloads. The disc will have the gold version and they will have a massive day one update like most games.
Blu-Ray just does not have the performance to play a game like this streaming straight off the drive. Sony realized this early on in the PS3 days and starting getting stuff to the much faster hard drive to remove the blu-ray bottleneck.
Although PS4 is really nothing special from a hardware perspective, the games are impressive and have thoroughly enjoyed my PS4 then PS4 Pro.
Same
Nice!... Perfect timing for my B-Day!
Destiny definitely has a cult following.
But, the only reason there will be no Destiny killer is because Destiny is no killer game for many people.
My reaction when I first played Destiny was.... "Bungie left MS to create this? They could've did about 90% of this game within the confines of the Halo IP. And in fact, a good 70% of Destiny is essentially a Halo engine."
The only disappointment here is the loss of employment for many retail workers.
I wonder if it is going to have real-time air currents and air temperatures from the real world?
