What a dumb article.
There is no console war anymore. The only people that truely care about console sales are a bunch of stupid brand fanboys. The world has changed and will continue to change dramatically.
5G and better hardware will make gaming possible in a lot of places where it is not today. Mobile gaming will continue to rise and no longer will people be tied to gaming solely on a console or PC for the AAA experience.
In that ...
Well they already have Halo Infinite, Hellblade, and Everwild announced. And in the XB announcement there was an implicit announcement for Forza Motorsports 8. Doesn't seem like it lacks games already.
Oh and you can play everything available on Xbox One, the 360 BC games, and the XB BC games. Day One it looks like the library will start with the largest library available to a console ever.
I'm sure if you turn it on and put the frozen waffles on the top of the green light grill it will cook them good!
It was probably inspired by the SSD drive. Really, all they are doing is taking a snapshot of memory when you switch games. Then, when you switch back restoring the snapshot.
You can't quickly do that with traditional drives.
What?
Here is an article on how Hellblade came about...
https://www.eurogamer.net/a...
Sony is not mentioned once in the article. Hellblade was not a Sony game.... It was a talented independent game that they felt Sony's platform worked best for shipping it there first. Given their history, it made a ton of sense. To say ...
I don't think MS should be looking to compete game-for-game and genre-for-genre with Sony. That just makes them the same as Sony.
I like it when MS just did their own thing and pushed games in a different direction. Gears was a perfect example to to me is still the best third person shooter, Ori and the Blind Forest, Cuphead, Halo, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay, and Forza Horizon. All games where MS did something they felt was right and differentiated their offering...
I don't see any other Sony multi-platform announcements.
We sure aren't going to see The Last of Us II, God of War, and Uncharted on XB anytime soon. And yes, if they did go there they would sell millions.
Bleeding Edge, Ori and the Willow Wisps, Minecraft Dungeons, Grounded, and Wasteland 3 all in the first half of 2020....
Looks like MS can deliver games all year long now.
It is interesting. We see a lot of "Stadia is crap" articles on N4G. But, as you say there are people praising it.
Also, I notice there is no "Stadia" tab in the banner bar of N4G. It is like the people that run N4G don't want it to succeed. And people on gaming sites are looking for reasons to slag the service.
I certainly want to hear more from the people who see it as successful.
That is the biggest BS on the planet.
The game seems to have a love hate relationship with gamers. A bunch of gamers absolutely love it, a bunch of gamers are not at all in love with it. I don't know how such a game can make game of the years with a love and hate relationship. Game of the Year should have universal appeal. Death Stranding definitely does not have that.
Switch and XB games are not praised endlessly, The facts are against you there...
And that is my point. Multi-platform just makes sense. Right now it is maybe just in certain scenarios, but longer term, to survive everyone will be multi-platform.
It is just too risky building a game for $100+ million dollars then watching it not sell enough to provide a return for stockholders.
MS doesn't talk console sales numbers so you wouldn't know if they are going to be inflated or not.
I own all major platforms. It is very expensive and a waste of money just so I can play all the games I like. With the money I save on buying less platforms I can buy more games (Not to mention annoying with having to buy a bunch of extra HDMI equipment to switch between the 7 gaming platforms I have consoles for.)
You say we need competition. Competition does not only come from exclusivity. Exclusivity as a way of driving competition is manufactured by the companies th...
So, how do you grow your game sales and show stockholders you are growing?
Even with PS4 completely dominating the generation it has very little chance of catching up to PS2 sales.
The only way to grow is to embrace other platforms and get your games out to more gamers or take more money from your existing gamers.
If it was so good then why is it gone?
Answer is simple... Too hard to get the power out and the power was in the wrong places. Games are expensive to build. You don't need them to be more expensive just because you use a custom processor.
Sony is really in a position where they don't have to do much. This is just an event to rally the fanbase. I don't expect they need much to make people happy. Just show some Last of Us II and everyone will be fine.
The future of gaming is multi-platform. Companies will differentiate themselves through services like network subscriptions, streaming subscriptions, game subscriptions, etc.
Hopefully no more stupid pitting gamers against gamers through useless console wars. The future is every gamer gets to play every game regardless of platform they choose to place upon! Mario, Zelda, Uncharted, God of War, Gears, Halo, Forza, GT, Metroid, etc. I wanna play them all on one console o...
Xbox Infinity confirmed. Will launch with Halo Infinity and Forza Motorsports Infinity.
You will be able to get the Infinity bundle for one low price.
LOL. Or not.
90% of average people no nothing about CPU, GPU,Memory, etc.
The conversation in the family goes something like this:
Kid: I want a console
Parent: What for?
Kid: So I can play Fornite, CoD, Battlefield, etc.
Parent: OK.
Parent Goes to store....
Best Buy: How can I help you?
Parent: I need to get a console for my kid
Best Buy: Which one?
Parent: Ummmmmm
Best Buy: Well ...
Agreed. I don't have a console because I prefer a console.
I have a console because it is the right form, fit, and function for gaming in a room with a big TV.
And I have a gaming PC, and I game on my phone/tablet, etc.
All have a purpose and scenario where I use them. It is more about where I am, and what is available to use.... And I choose the best gaming device for each scenario.
