Ongoing services are a way better revenue model then single event games and consoles.
First, people can budget the set amount for the services and know exactly what they will get.
Second, they have to keep the services attractive by shipping new games and features all the time otherwise people will stop subscribing.
Third, (at least for me) services have saved me a lot of money. Gone are day one purchasing and paying $50-60 for games...
Yes, and until the plans and games are fully announced there is really nothing to go on for games yet other than Halo Infinite will ship day one with XSX. And even that is debatable with COVID-19 making everyone work from home.
Microsoft is improving first party offerings pretty dramatically this year.
First Ori and now Gears Tactics, and I am also hoping Minecraft Dungeons will be a good dungeon crawler!
Then, Halo Infinite and hopefully Forza Motorsports 8 to start the gen at the end of the year! Nice!
The PS3 was more difficult then 360 to develop with at first, but by mid/end of gen its raw power started to show over 360.
Can't wait for this game! The more I see the more I like!
Agreed. This should've been an opinion piece. There is absolutely no confirmed facts that support this.
I am probably only one of a few gamers really looking forward to this game. I just really like the idea of a Minecraft, Diablo style!
I think the expectations should be reduced there a bit.
Phil said in the IGN interview that having a large quantity of launch games is not as important as quality games. And they want to spread games out over the year more.
I would say Halo Infinite and Forza Motorsports 8 are in the launch window. But, others will wait til the new year.
Ummmmm....

Yes, COVID-19 seems to be changing the world quickly.
I believe that if the trade shows are there and there is an audience they should be done in person. But, the reality is that 95% of the world can't be there in person so online is where most see the information anyhow.
Yes, this is what is known as "Marketing". I watched the video, did not see anything in it that was different then what we've heard from Sony. It is interesting and we have to wait and see but what it seems like so far from everything I have heard....
Sony: Our raw power is in the SSD and we have optimized the memory, GPU, and CPU usage to be just as powerful as our competitor.
Microsoft: Our raw power is in the CPU, GPU, and memory and...
Personally, I loved 4... Also loved 5 because they did co-op in RE properly... 6 and Racoon City were horrible.... 7 was awesome again.
XB has a lot of work to do in Japan. GamePass isn't going to improve the situation overnight.
LOL....
All it comprises is, "Hardware decompression block, the SSD and Directx".
So this is all around the performance of the SSD. the hardware decompression is there to more quickly then software decompress data, the SSD is typical speeds of most SSDs today, and the DirectX changes are to add SSD low level APIs to assist in giving performance to large open world games, etc.
Guess if that isn't important then Sony's ...
I like continuing to hear information about the next generation of consoles. Helps me understand what they are truly capable of.
Was a really good episode. My highlights:
Grounded seems intriguing - Gotta see more though
Gears Tactics looks awesome - Didn't know it is coming to XB as well later this year
Yakuza Kiwami coming to gamepass soon
More regions added for xCloud
More GamePass regions added
and Forza Street to Android and iOS!
I like how smooth the design is. Less blocky, more smooth!
Now I will have to stop eating cheese puffs when I game!

"So you think it's fair for those who buy it digital to get it while probably over 50% of others have to sit and wait and potentially have the game spoiled for them?"
No, but let's say the PSN service was unable to deliver a digital version on launch day/week for whatever reason.
Would you expect them to halt physical game shipments?
Well consoles are just PCs with a different firmware/OS now so it is not surprising that they are good.
