Geesh, some people have nothing better to do then over analyze every word that was said.
UE is a multi-platform engine. Part of its appeal is how it can make every platform run very similarly.
An interesting exercise.... I brought up the State of Play Ghosts of Tsushima gameplay yesterday side by side with the UE demo. Now that is a comparison of how much better this next gen will be.
I think that it depends on what you are trying to accomplish in the game. The demo was beautiful, But ray tracing would've made it even better.
The consoles have revealed specs. The consoles have revealed controllers.
The consoles have yet to give a compelling reason to buy day one.
The UE5 demo looked spectacular, but that was not a full on game. It was a walkthrough cut scene of huge potential that probably won't be realized until 2022... (UE5 ships in 2021 according to their web site). By then the consoles will probably be $100 cheaper.
I am probably the only person on the planet that is really excited about this game.... I love Diablo, I love twin stick shooters, and I love RPGs. put them all together and I am in!
I can't wait to play this game.
It is a nice combo of Red Dead open world, meets Uncharted close and stealthy, meets your typical collectathon!
So what they are saying is a ton of people are going to go and buy the PS5. Wait for that, and then since a bunch of people bought PS5 you should too.
The reality is that both are marketing and taking an approach. I will wait and see. I end up with all the consoles anyhow, the question is what order and when I buy them. I was thinking of only one console this gen but I think both will have great games you can't get on the other.
I don't know why everyone seems to think the UE5 showing was a Sony specific thing.
There was no Sony representation and at the end there was no PS credits. These were two guys from Epic Games talking about new features in one of the biggest game engines on the planet. The only thing they mentioned was the hardware the demo was running on. If they would've said, "PC" instead of the twice they mentioned "PS5" in the demo it would've gone co...
Actually I played games all evening on my PS4 and XBO.
The interesting part....
"Unreal Engine 5 will be available in preview in early 2021, and in full release late in 2021, supporting next-generation consoles, current-generation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android."

I would like to see this same demo on all the different platforms.
I disagree. The choice of technologies will be dependent on what you are trying to achieve in the game.
If you are in a foggy setting for a game ray tracing will improve it a ton. In bright settings ray tracing is probably a waste.
I am sure there will be games.
But, typically my complaint with Sony is that they announce games way too early and we spend years waiting for them. They are great, but they could announce them 2 years later and I would be much happier.
In this case we haven't heard a single thing about first party launch games for PS5 yet. This concerns me because it takes time to help gamers understand your game. By not announcing any first party games at all for ...
PS has a lot more Japanese and Action-Adventure content then XB does.
XB does do better in the RPG and Strategy categories though.
I would like to here from developers that are pushing the envelope always. I would hardly call Hazel Sky pushing the envelope.
I doubt any games from major third party publishers will be exclusive. Namco-Bandai, Konami, Square Enix, Sega, Ubisoft, EA, Epic Games, etc. These companies make money by publishing on many platforms.
Exclusivity is something reserved for when first parties fund indie games and when first parties build their own games. And even then MLB The Show and Minecraft are first party games that are multi-platform going forward.
And even when indie games star...
Ya this is the new trend. Take the text or symbols of your logo, put them sideways, make them 3D and broadcast your best IP scenes on them.
If marketing died I would be happy. More money to spend on gameplay.
Had Amazon Kinect, junk piled it and its voice stuff.
Had Amazon Alexa, junk piled it.
Had Google Assistant, junk piled it.
I would rather put more features into gameplay then see more voice stuff.
I thought Bungie would do great things after Halo. Turns out they did nothing really special with Destiny and Destiny 2. Just another shooter with some neat multiplayer modes.
People keep saying that the next gen XB stuff will be hamstrung by current generation consoles but there is not a single fact to back that up.
The PC world supports a wide variety of hardware and computer capabilities. The more powerful your hardware, the better the games play. It will be the same going forward for consoles.
And you can almost guarantee that Sony will give an updated TLOU2 and Ghosts of Tsushima the day PS5 ships. If you think that Son...
Really, its sales level will be dependent on how many they can manufacture.
With COVID-19 no one is sure how many will be available.
