Comparing games to DVD in terms of exclusivity is a bit silly isn't it? Games cost a lot more than DVDs.
If every exclusive were multiplats, no one would buy them all... let's say Killzone comes out the same time as Halo, most people would only buy one of those. By having exclusives it is more likely to sell and it works.

Exactly. Indie developers need publishers and talking bad about a console that might support your game isn't great.
