Admittedly some games try to clone Souls but do it without any of the charm. However a lot of other games nail it. Keep them coming.
Bit rich to be making bold statements about games that aren't out yet. I certainly wouldn't assume that FF7 is going to be all action combat without any exploration and storytelling.
I wouldn't say it's been a stellar year for RPGs. Depends on your tastes I guess. Cyberpunk, FF7 and possibly Elden Ring if it's ever heard of again and turns out to be an RPG are a very strong foundation for 2020.
That's probably my choice. I wouldn't focus too much on the zero gravity and outdoor sections though I'd be more interested in seeing their vision of how a new colony would turn out given time. Maybe it could have an Elon Musk type character behind it all whose ego eventually runs out of control, totally unlike real life.
I really liked the ruined grandeur of Rapture and the idea of a luxurious utopia descending into anarchy, exposing the worst parts of human nature so that'd be my basic setup and it could be pretty much anywhere. On another planet perhaps where colonisation goes badly wrong after a great start.
Yeah great game. I would have been happy enough if it was a short but bloody hack and slash but it turned out to be a fully fledged deep Metroidvania with excellent platforming.
It's probably the game I enjoyed the most in 2019 so if that makes it my GotY so be it.
For some reason even though I knew it was made by Platinum I thought it'd be less arcadey. I tend to like arcadey shooters but melee games that have a bit of weight to the combat. Looks alright though.
Just makes me think a fully fledged downhill skiing/snowboarding game could be a lot of fun in VR.
There was a remake fairly recently wasn't there? I think I watched it although I couldn't swear to it. If there was and it did well then I guess the franchise is still relevant enough for a new game.
Like a lot of similar characters I'm up and down with how much I like him, but the world would certainly be a duller place without him. Respect to him for not following the herd but still being commercially successful.
Cool. My vote is for another new location and not to go back to Rapture or Columbia apart from for a cameo appearance. I'd also like more emphasis on exploration and less combat than Infinite, my favourite part of that game was the bit leading up to the baseball scene. Obviously it needs combat but not so much of it it gets tiresome.
One for the hipsters.
That's my mate Paul after his seventh pint.
It was just a little bit crap but I still enjoyed it and put a load of hours into it. Maybe it would have been better if it was less stat based and more of a genuine sports minigame.
Probably a better chance of being hit by lightning while being eaten by a shark.
I wonder if Nioh 2 will suffer from the release of Elden Ring, it seems to be little more than polishing a tried and tested formula compared to Elden which I believe is going to be something new.
It depends on release dates and how good Elden turns out to be of course but if they both came out at the same time Nioh could look dated right out of the gate.
It's the holy trinity of Cyberpunk, FF7 and Elden Ring for me.
Great game. The one thing I'd like to see from follow ups is more spectacle particularly in terms of bosses. If they can tell another emotionally affecting story with the epic boss fights of the earlier games it'll be one of the best games ever.
Yes it's a bit of a PR stunt but that doesn't make what the award is for any less real. Sony are the big dogs of home consoles and fair play to them for that. Nintendo are the big dogs of portable consoles and fair play to them for that.
Didn't this only happen the other day? Either Codemasters had already virtually finished the game but decided to let SMS polish it and take the credit or SMS threw Project Cars 3 out of the window in favour of taking a pretty ropey stab at something out of their comfort zone.
Neither scenario makes much sense to me.
