They've got a point, I think we'd all rather wait two or three years for a quality Resi than have one released every year whatever state it's in.

Quality over quantity certainly applies to this series.

I think for now I'm happy with the new games being first person and the remakes sticking with third, if they do Code Veronica next then 4 and 5 there'll be plenty of fresh feeling but traditional goodness.

Who knows maybe one day they'll do a third person remake of 7 haha.

Unlike the Cyberpunk whingers I do sympathise with people unhappy about Resi going first person because it's got a long tradition of being third person and both the recent remakes showed how well it still works. Resi 7 was a great game though and scared me more than any in the series apart from the original game when I was a kid.

I don't agree, I'd like to see what Resi 4 would be if it was a new game made today by a top drawer team with a big budget, not an old game with some polish. That's boring and a waste of time and effort.

It's not something some parents will want to hear but you are right. Games are entertaining but they don't develop young brains in any meaningful way and the formative years are vital in the long term.

If it was about quantity I bet there have been more Crown Victoria's in games than any other car. Even if you couldn't drive them yourself.

The average cop chase in the older GTAs involved dozens of them, it was good fun when they didn't PIT you with the mass of a tank and the speed of a Ferrari but instead piled on top of you like an over enthusiastic rugby scrum.

The kind of film Uncharted will be, even in a best case scenario, will only ever be something that I'll have on in the background, there's not enough depth to this sort of cinematic fluff to sit and play close attention. TLOU has the potential to be gripping tv however.

This from someone who loves the Uncharted series and characters and only got halfway through TLOU.

Well that was impressive. They certainly look like they know what they're doing.

Cheers Ted sounds like it might be just the ticket while we're stuck indoors.

How would you say it compares to other ES games if you take the online part out of the equation? I'm up for a new ES but I'm not particularly interested in coop or PVP with this series.

It'd be utterly bonkers if they did that after successfully stripping the series back to its survival horror roots (albeit with a divisive perspective change) with 7 but who knows.

"It's by far the biggest departure the series has ever taken"

It'll be interesting to see what this means. By far suggests that changing from third person to first or becoming more action oriented like Resi 4 are insignificant in comparison. Wtf is it going to be, a 2D dating sim? I always figured it'd be a bigger scale follow up to 7.

Not bad for an indie though is it?

I hope it's an action horror, presumably it is judging from the emphasis on the shotgun.

I've said before (unpopular opinion it seems) that if you could take Nioh's combat, which is brilliant, and put it into a better game you'd have something which may well surpass Dark Souls and I agree with some of the criticisms in the review. However it's clearly not a 5/10 game.

Quite possibly. I've played games that have more violence but it's often tongue in cheek or you get desensitised to it, Blasphemous is deadly serious and the game world so bleak and convincing that the brutal violence hits harder.

It's surprising the game turned out to be good with this guy at the helm. The combat mechanics were actually the biggest improvement in the sequel as much as he wouldn't want to hear that, everything else was inferior.

It's probably because of how much they've milked it and how long ago it came out. If ES6 came out in 2016 five years after Skyrim people wouldn't have turned on it like they have.

Instead, in 2016 they brought out The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Pinball.

They're so secretive about this game that this counts as major news. I don't really get excited about new games but I'm beyond keen to hear any info about this game I think it's going to be something special.

I'd say the first half of U4 I was fairly indifferent to but the second half was so good that I rate it very highly as a whole. If you like the series and the characters it was a great game to finish with, it took a bit of time to get going, but once it clicked it was brilliant.
