For those who disagreed...Care to comment, or is that too much work, to actually make a case?
Wow...2 of the few games I was actually looking forward to for PS3. Especially The Getaway. That was a series that could've not only benefitted from, but showcased the power of the PS3...That was an incredibly stupid decision. Oh and by all means, please tell me what other PS3 titles there were to look forward to other than MGS4, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, and Killzone 2? Because 4 good games in the pipeline, does not a strong line-up make.
What cracks me up is that people miss the whole fact that last year MS had amazing sales for it's games and consoles. Yes, Sony is going to have a good year, much like MS had last year. 360 had some great exclusives last year and now it's Sony's turn. What does Sony have next year that is going to be "amazing"? Final Fantasy XIII maybe.
An amazing lack of perspective runs rampant in these console fanboy wars.
Thank God I have both consoles so I can enjoy th...
Why can't you deduct points for the story and the cutscenes? They're very much part of the game. That's like a film critic only reviewing the editing, sound design and the cinematography. If the story is integral to enjoying the game then it and how it's presented are most certainly fair game. Please explain why story and cutscene length shouldn't be judged in a game that needs them to tell the story. This should be interesting.
Here is the list of "Bad" in the Ratchet review on Gamespot (which, by the way, is right at the top of the review):
"There's some good humor in it, but the story isn't very interesting, and the ending is a letdown
So many different, often unnecessary gameplay mechanics that the game lacks an identity
Difficulty is too easy and only the last hour or so is remotely challenging."
Those are 3 things, not one thing and the...
Can we institute an IQ test prior to registration?
And I say it again...I'm a fan of the series and I DO NOT WANT 90 minute cut scenes...I want to play the friggin' game, not watch it.
It bears repeating because people keep saying things like this again and again and again.
I really, really can't fathom why every PS3 owner feels like there is a conspiracy to keep the PS3 down. I feel ridiculous even typing that.
It has N.O.T.H.I.N.G. to do with it being a PS3 exclusive. I do believe it's ridiculous for Konami to make reviewers withold the information about cutscene length. And they're doing it because they know that it WILL turn people off. Do I think it will turn enough people off from buying the game that it will ultimately hurt their bottom line...
I definitely don't feel hype for Fable 2. I think a lot of people were disappointed by Fable so their expectations are in check. I know mine are. Not keen on the muskets either.
Sony is catching up, how? In games or sales? Sales yes, games? Not even close.
And how do you know that the DLC for GTA IV is "bogus"? Have you seen it? Do you know what "bogus" even means? It's a little early to say it didn't make a difference because it hasn't been released.
MS needs more exclusives because "they" slipping? I'm sorry, but selling 6 million copies of Call of Duty 4, almost 8 million of Halo 3, almost 6 million of GTA IV...
It's nothing like Halo 3 going to PS3...At all.
Sony doesn't own Metal Gear, Konami does. Microsoft owns Halo. See the difference there?
The only problem with your theory is that if they say something like "You gave them more, give us more or we walk" puts them in a terrible position because then the competition doesn't have to give them nearly as much or anything because they burned a bridge. So they either work with the competitor for less, nothing, or the amount they balked at. Or they can go back with their tale between their legs and say "we're sorry" and then either take the offer they didn't want, or...
Wait...It's the Official Playstation Magazine...It's a PS3 exlusive and the most important one to date...They gave it 5 stars...It's a conspiracy. There's no way this game is a 5 star game. I mean, they gave GTA IV 5 stars and we all know how imperfect that game was. Or maybe they gave this 5 stars BECAUSE they gave GTA IV 5 stars...Just to prove that Micro$oft can't buy negative reviews from the OFFICIAL Playstation Magazine....Yes, that has to be it...I refuse to believe that anyone who pla...
Sorry you see it as "spamming", but I wanted to get the point across that not all MGS fans want long cut scenes. It seems that with each medium Kojima lets his games get more and more bloated. But also, it was a retort against the hundreds of irrational posts on the matter accusing everyone who isn't on board with MGS 4 being the greatest game ever being a 360 fanboy. And there are several people who have posted this type of thing again and again and again. At least my posts have be...
Wow. So let me get this straight. Even though you haven't played the game you know it's not only "perfection" but the best game of the year. And because you know this, any review that states otherwise is incorrect. How old are you? 12?
Thank God perspective and objectivity entered my life a long time ago. Other wise I would have loved Kane and Lynch.
Oh my god...I'm ashamed to say I own a PS3...You people have to biggest collective persecution complex. Wow....It's really, really sad.
Please stop using terms and phrases like "no one". They're all-inclusive and incorrect. I personally don't care about install times (not nearly as much as space, but I have played all the MGSs and I DON'T want long cut-scenes. I want more gameplay. Since it's a video game. I also am not completely selfish and would like to see this game played by as many people as possible and long cutscenes is a major turn off. Turn off = Less sales.
And why would anyone want to steal So...
What if, you played every MGS game (Loved the first and 3rd, hated the second) and are still annoyed that cutscenes last 40-90 minutes?
And all reports prior to reading this thread was a 70/30 split between gameplay and cut scene...Now I read it's 50/50? I'm sorry, but even though I'm a fan of Metal Gear Solid, I think that's a ridiculous amount of exposition for a video game. Unless each scene is ridiculously full of action, interesting drama and humor. Which, if part 2 taught u...
Absolutely not. Everyone has to love Metal Gear Solid 4 as a perfect 10 game. If they don't then they just hate Sony.
"MGS4 cutscenes are long. Fine because they flush out more story then most games. Ok you don't like cutscenes fair enough, can you skip them, yes you can, so is it a flaw? I don't think so. If they aren't forcing something on you then how come its a flaw?"
If the story is important to the game, then in order to get the story, and thus part of what you paid for, then you are forced to watch them. Skipping an easter egg is one thing. Skipping chunks of story integral to t...
