@Darthv72,
Sorry bro, I was with all until the part where you said both were bad situations. Microsoft didn't cover RROD under warranty until late 2006. Meanwhile if your console died before then, all you could do was trade it in towards the purchase of a new one. My own 360 died after only 8 months and I had to do the exact thing. While the PSN attack is horrible, hacking is always considered unpreventable. RRODs on the other hand could have been prevented had Microsoft not tr...
I agree. People act like Sony was doing what Pandora was doing. Pandora was literally leaking your personal information to advertising agencies. You give your credit card information to electric companies/ISP/city/cell phone carriers and that's the risk you take when doing so. Best thing to do is check your credit card statements. Since most online worth any money need your CVC#, I wouldn't be too worried.
N4g doesn't care at all. Whatever it take to keep website traffic high is fair game.
Even our nations pentagon was hacked around the time of 9/11. Everyone thinks their security is impenetrable until they are hacked. Who do you think these companies consult when they want to make a air tight security system? Hackers. Ultimate you won't know about the bug in your security system until someone exploits it. Had the hacker not been able to access PS3s master key from Geohotz website, we wouldn't even be talking about this right now. It is as simple as "cause and effe...
Credit card numbers are useless unless you can obtain the CVC#, which is required for all purchases.
I see your point and maybe I misunderstood him. I actually don't mind the downtime. I check my email daily to make sure my account wasn't affected. But besides that I have been going back to revisit the single player aspect of the game I've purchased. I can only hope that Sony puts a nice spin on this by revamping the PSN. Allow the freedom in has with just a bit more structure. just a couple of examples:
Universal invite system (EA Crysis2)
Cross game chat (helps ...
COD lovers too. Oh and Kinect is absolutely awesome /s.
me likey
If it's not a RPG than it's almost doesn't justify paying $59.99 for it. A big chunk of my gaming budget makes sure that is has an online component, which can sustain itself for at least 6 months.
I agree with you because that would kill fanboyism is its tracks. I was a multiple console owner at one point. I just was tired of replacing my 360. Besides most of my friends own a ps3. I have never been a fan of Natal/Kinect. I really only want one game on the 360 "Gear of War 3". I just don't think that one game justifies buying a $199.99 system.
maybe this is just the first time he has actually made any sense. People are blowing this out of proportion. Sony is potentially loosing millions each day psn isn't active. On top of that, I'm pretty sure they shot payroll to hell because of all the overtime going out. They're also bringing in outside help to hurry and bring the service back up. If I get Xgame chat this then I'm a happy camper.
I think that this has cause a major setback. If there was no physical media, those who loose their internet access are out of luck.
Unfortunately, no my friend. This isn't any different from a crackhead slipping on a wet floor, even though there is a sing there. I already know how this is going to end. Sony cannot be held liable for this simply because it was a external attack. It's like trying to sue the U.S. government because a terrorist stole your information. Pandora is going through something similar right now. But the difference is Pandora, themselves, were leaking people information. This is a known risk y...
If we had more statements like that on N4g, we would see less people with just one bubble. PS3 is the lead platform, but I'm positive xbox360 will look just as good. Rockstar is offering exclusive DLC when you buy the ps3 version. I wonder what they are going to offer xbox360 owners?
repost. It must have been taken down by youtube.
@RedDragan,
GeoHotz didn't break anything, it was an overseas group who made the initial breakthrough. GeoHotz just took what they did and furthered it while taking complete credit.
@DragonKnight,
He's a security expert. You know the guy companies pay to consult them on issues exactly like this. His estimate may only be speculation, but he has certification to back it up. If this is true and this isn't a tool making this up.
It's just Call of Duty in Battlefield clothing. It didn't do anything to stand on it's own two feet. It just took top two best shooters and merged them together. I like my Battlefield, Call of Duty free.
Thank you. I'm pretty sure he came across that article like the rest of us. Yet he found it convenient to omit that small detail. These are not the numbers for the entire EU region. This is only from the UK, which there is almost a 2-1 ratio between 360 and ps3. Not only that, but socom4 released and Mortal Kombat 9. It's simply the fact that ps3 gamers aren't secluded to making only multiplatform games this month.
Every major corporation wants to make a major issue out of something that could only be minor. I don't know if the author took the time out to think before writing this article. You never want to scare your board of investors. This can cause your stock shares to plummet. Intel just experienced this themselves with the "Cougar" stepping degrading issue. They conducted countless test to make sure this was an actual defect with the P67 boards before saying a word. Once it was confi...
Just turn on my ps3. Looks like it works. Now how is this like RROD again? I like how they took Sony's : "your information MAY have been accessed", to "They have your credit card numbers and CVC#". This is ridiculous. Credit cards are useless unless you have billing information AND the CVC# on the back of your card.
