(Sigh)Go to PSXHax.net or any of the other ps3 hack scenes. You will see that with update 3.60 Sony re-secured their system. You can even type it into the search bar on here. Do you even know how the perpetrator was able to gain access to PSN? The hackers said it themselves that Sony closed the loop hole. The ps3's masterkey was leaked. Without it none of these hacks work. Sony has now changed the masterkey. There is only a hybrid CFW that tricks the PSN, Games to saying it's a 3.60 f...

You don't need to be a journalist to properly access this situation. Since Sony announced that they will be restoring the services in phases, one can conclude that they are not completely finished with the security aspect of things. They do understand that people patience tend to wane the further they go without. By restoring basic services to PSN, which is the most important, they ensure that the world keeps on spinning. Meanwhile, they will be spending the next few upcoming months updat...

"The events of the last 2 weeks this loyalty seems to have been taken a hit, with multiple sites reporting that 1 in 5 PSN users have already said they are thinking about switching over to Xbox Live."

Just could not help yourself in the end could you? The poll you're quoting had no set parameters, and included those who didn't even own a ps3. You have failed at journalism simply because you failed to use common sense. The poll only was only comprised of 1,68...

I don't know what you're implying. Sony was already in discussion of having dev kits sent out with new masterkeys. This isn't related to the psn issue. This is related the whole Geohotz fiasco. It makes sense since the hack that caused the PSN attack allowed you to put your ps3 in "DEV-debug" mode. I think Sony has went farther than anyone to combat piracy this generation. Sony is the only one to successfully re-secure their system.

Awesome, that just means all my friends will have a gold plus near their name (for 30 day at least). I see what Sony did though. Since Xbox Live was possibly unplayable for two weeks back in 2007, they gave themselves a two week time frame. I guess they it would be the longest they could go without serious backlash from the community. People would just think they service was no longer out than LIVE was back in 2007. Good job, Sony. This is why they are only implementing it in phases. They no ...

Eu is about 6-8 hours ahead of us. By the time this article was posted, it was already past 12am. So he may not be off. He says that the update will be around 180mb. Let's wait and see. If he is right, I'm hope you guys will man up and give him credit.

for stepping in and providing the industry with a little bit of sanity. Sony has been met with so much scrutiny this generation by it's competitors two major markets (US/UK). Yet the truth remains it's still the best selling console in 2011, and has done so at a higher price point than it's competition. If it were up to FOX and BBC, the head line would read "Sony cooperating with terrorist?".

"Maybe the heat does make people crazy. Before you know ...

The fact remains that unlike Microsoft's RROD, this can be fixed relatively easy. It also doesn't require you to ship your console off to be refurbished. People also seem to forget that PS3 has outsold Xbox360 worldwide for every month of 2011. This is no small feat give that it's $100(US) more expensive then the competition. I actually commend Microsoft for taking the high road, and recognize that this could have happen to anyone. They understand that this isn't a console war...

anyone could take that survey. Even those who don't own a ps3. So I doubt this story will even be approved simply because it's a duplicate.

Edit: just looked at the source and it told me all i needed to know.

PS2 had a similar situation like the RROD situation Microsoft had. Sony handle theirs differently than Microsoft though. Sony isssued a recall because the power brick in the slim designs were catching fire. Real gamers know that anyone can be hacked and it was Sony's bad luck that it was them first. They also know that Geohotz is the one to blame for publishing PS3's masterkey on his website.
Actually Geohotz is the one sole to blame in my opinion and who ever leak the ps3 mas...

He said the one thing every other article/news journalist has missed.
"....now Sony has had to re-build the infrastructure as credit card details ‘may’ have been swiped."
Do you people see that? The keyword in that sentence was "may". You have all of they fanboy and fear mongering news outlets (BBC) misinforming the public. Come on Sony press conference so it can separate the facts from the misinformation.

You guys took what he said completely out of context. He is exactly right. Even though Sony will settle things tomorrow, sites will probably still try to run some of those exact headlines that he's stating. People should go back and read his topic sentence. You don't even deserve those disagrees buddy.

Possible data breach. The keyword that people are forgetting is "possible". Freaking media is distorting the facts to insight panic and fear. Media couldn't bash SONY ps3 because it was selling, and now they're trying to make the victim into the culprit.

If Xbox Live is attacked next week, I expect to see headlines: "Nelson's head must rool". The same hackers who are ripping through the security systems are the one building them. There is not one security firewall that is impenetrable. You should look @gaffyh's comment. Stringer was already planning on choosing a successor. He's about to leave the company anyway. All eyes are on Kaz Harai and how he handles this situation. A situation that people are blowing completely o...

Darthv72,

Good job bro. Had Emerge's statement sounded something along the same lines as yours, then I would agree with him. Hey if you have both then I don't see why you wouldn't play on LIVE in the absence of PSN. But people are acting like you can't purchase PSN cards. If I recall it was the highest selling accessory for March NPD. Yes it's a little more tedious, but it is a good alternative. To abandon the ps3 after I've invested hundreds of dollar...

Yeah, for some reason I highly doubt that. Especially if they already have an established library on ps3. I think you're trolling and now you will be treated as such.

I call bull. Besides most wiis aren't connect via internet anyway. It would be redundant to try and hack nintendo simply because there is hardly anyone playing it's online.

See that's my point Sony never said that the hacker have any credit card information. This was just an assumption made by the media. Sony said that there was a chance that your personal information was released. They never said it was without a doubt that your information was taken. Even so, your basic information was behind a security firewall, while credit card information was encrypted. Sony is just covering their tracks just in case somebody's information did get obtained. When th...

How you take Sony's: " your personal information may have been obtained....": to "they have stolen your Credit card numbers". Sony just said there was a possibility that you personal information may have been accessed. All credit card information was encrypted though. Let's go a step further. To finalize any kind of online purchase, you need the CVC# on the back of the card. Sony doesn't have that because it never asked your to provide it. If you're that pa...
