How odd, a person who works for NPD thinks this is a very positive sign. Come to N4G and it's all but pessimism and negativity, like most if not all Microsoft topics here. Usually by the same members too.
It's been said many times now, the CEO of Microsoft has given Phil Spencer full confidence and made his role more significant within the last year. This is why they are able to invest in 5 new studios and make such a bold announcement.
Microsoft ...
This is likely his biggest success so far and we all know what happens when a game does well, the higher ups automatically want to make a sequel to it. It's the same thing with The Last of Us. There was no real reason to do another other than it was a huge success. Same will happen with Horizon. Once a new IP does well you can bet there is pressure to make another.
You're not even able to defend Sony's decision so your only recourse seems to be is go after them for being desperate.
Go watch the movie Wonder with Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson. There is a scene there where the two kids play together and shows how out of touch some of you are. Sony is isolating themselves, while constantly pushing exclusion. Sony is getting even worse in this bubble they have created by what we saw at E3. The conference was all about its exclusiv...
The problem with that assessment is only 1 out of those 4 actually has a ship date. We could essentially still have 3 of them not out before the next E3.
The game sells well, that seems to be the only argument that apparently needs to be made.
It is the talk of all of E3 as best game, we will eventually get to see what those who were there saw.
You guys complain about how Electronic Arts does business and since sales is all that matters then you should stop complaining, It's the same defense force mechanism you guys display about crossplay. So if one argument is that's just business then please try and be consistent about it.
The game is available on the S as well, your comment makes no sense at all so instead of talking about the game, which looks very good, you want to change the subject. Great job!
Same with Electronic Arts too and Ubisoft and Activision. After all you guys seem to think all that matters is sales.
HaveSumNuts,
"Not Sonys fault Microsoft"
Then whose fault is it when it shows Nintendo is fine with it?
Rocket League?
"Not Sonys fault Microsoft"
Fortnite?
"Not Sonys fault Microsoft"
Seems like there is a pattern here.
Spiderman will be a huge hit but this game doesn't hold my interest. Sorry that not all Sony exclusives are to your standards.
If their games sell isn't that all what matters? It's the same concept many have here about blocking crossplay and cross progression, that's it's all about sales. So as long as the shareholders see growth then I guess EA can live in a vacuum as well.
You sound upset people are enjoying playing together. Do you actually listen to how you sound? You're so busy concentrating on unit sales that you've forgotten what games are about, having fun.
You act like The Last of Us 2, Days Gone and all those other games would not exist if Sony wasn't such a bully. To think they have that much fear by going crossplay with consoles they would all of the sudden stop being the leader in sales.
Nobody can defend their decision and those that do they do it out of tribalism.
This commercial is exactly the information that needs to get out there. It is about having fun, games are about having fun. Share toget...
SpaceRanger,
"Sad that they’ve practically stopped talking about the OG Xbox One or S. Considering the vast majority of their fanbase is using on those."
It's coming out on the Xbox One S, so why do you care about a community you don't really support to begin with?
What other first party title on any other console has achieved 4K 60fps?
Phil Spencer wasn't very happy after he heard all those other games coming out the same time. Crackdown 3 will be the first to blink and change its date.
I like the idea they are doing here, much better than the direction of Fallout 76. Plus this game will not allow griefers that want to drive into you on purpose.
I really liked the whole concept of the first one but playing it wasn't the greatest. I think with a little extra care and time it could be a very good franchise.
"If I owned a Mall, the stores within it can't tell me how to run things. They abide by the rules they signed before setting up shop or pack up and leave. Sony is the mall."
When I am at the mall I can buy a drink at one place in the food court and food at another, they don't discriminate like Sony does. Sony's version of the mall is your Coca-Cola cannot be sitting at the same table as your friends Pepsi or your other friends 7-Up.
