How many copies of Call of Duty sold on the 3DS? When you make unique software then chances are people will buy it on the 3DS. It is the big publishers who are reluctant to release their big titles on it for two reasons. One is it's hard to release a proper port at times because of the hardware so you end up with an inferior version for the same price. 3DS games are not $60 are they?
Second is where is the proof people are buying multi-platform titles on Nintendo consol...

How many people play MMO games? It is a myth to think physical games is what holds gaming into relevance. The pc has shown you cans till move forward without the need for physical copies. Console gamers will adapt just like everyone else if they had to.

Sony has managed to create a following that gives them good support in return. Even average games like The Order 1886 sold fairly well. EA will do what they can to be profitable and they likely see single player only titles as more risky but I think an open world Star Wars game would be great. Apparently that is what Respawn is working on.

There are lots on the pc, this seems to be greatly exacerbated on consoles which continues to struggle with the brick and mortar business model.

Ram used to be a problem, it's not anymore. The PS3 only had 256 MB plus another 256 which made it very difficult to work with. Epic was the one who told Microsoft while making the Xbox 360 to include 512MB, they were only going to go with 256.
Now the systems have at least 4GB of usable ram which is enough. Nintendo is still behind but I think a baseline of 8GB (of useable RAM) is enough for next gen. The CPU is obviously now the bottleneck.

That does not mean I want less single player games, far from it. Fallout are some of my favorite games and they too are now testing the waters on taking it to a different direction. However they are able to make it sustainable because they have built up an incredible fanbase and have the financial backing to spend 5 years on making one game.

I have all of the Ratchet games and I liked this one. The only ones I didn't care for were Deadlocked and even though I liked Quest for Booty it was overpriced for what you got.
You can't just keep making the same games over and over and this is why Sony has been able to adapt. You look at the main 4 titles they showed and each has its own look and design. I also look at how Sucker Punch and Naughty Dog have grown over the years. Spiderman is what I would call good old fashion gaming so it's not all about pushing the envelop and a more mature theme.
What the hell are you talking about, the press that got access saw the game at E3 and said it was much better than the teaser they showed on stage and they were kind of baffled since they spent way too much time of the Command and Conquer which was lame.
