There have been reviews done, and the Blu-Ray drive / player on the Ps3 is at par with if not better then some stand alone players.
Is, if the system is "DivX" certified they will include the DIVX player as a web browser addon. There is no reason as to why they can't or won't. Since we already have the codec to play the content.
That I am not a 100% video game holic. I like to do OTHER things, like watch movies or play music etc.. on my console. So, please forgive me.. as I watch 300 on my Ps3. (gets popcorn)
If you have DivX PLAYER installed, then you can play the content.
You DON'T have the option to do so!
- You have never thought about FREE access to multi-player online, because you never got an option to do so.
- You have never thought about playing content off of your HDD, because you don't have the option of doing so.
It's true of all "bots" they only conquer to what options they have.
I find it odd that you wouldn't want to store data on your HDD for easier access, or to play back the content ...
Yet, I am pretty sure the HD-DVD for the Xbox 360 addon doesn't play content at native 1080p.
The U.S. probably has slower internet connection then most third world countries, yet we pay more then any other country for internet service. I wish we could finally get upgraded to the level of the Europeans or the Japanese.
If anything this will help the Blu-Ray format.. having a dual format is good for the consumer but BAD for the Studios. Creating two different format costs them more money. The Ps3 is the deciding factor, as it's sales pickup companies will start to go BD exclusive.
Unless, Xbox 360s start pumping out HD-DVD enabled systems, or the Wii decides to go HD-DVD there is nothing else that can hinder the growth of the format.
He is referring to his personal opinion half the time, lame.
If this is true, then it can be presumed M$ has paid off Gamespot before / currently to give such crappy reviews to Sony games. How can you trust a source that fires its employees (Editors), because of advertisement dollars. All previous Gamespot reviews of games comes into question.
But it's the little things that count. I might not look at my XMB for just a few sec.. but I have the tools to change how it looks. And I don't have to pay big $$$ to do it. Welcome to "user created content" or "web 2.0" as apple would say. ;)
1. By committing to a 40gb model and making the 60 / 80gb rare they can sale the high end consoles at it's current prices to consumers looking for the "complete" package. No need for another price cut.
A) Only hard-core gamers will be informed of the 60 / 80gb discontinuation therefore inticing them to buy these systems. The average consumer won't be "informed" or care.
B) Only hard-core gamers care about backward compatibility.
Mario doesn't seem to be selling to well in Japan.. that is a shocker. And their other games Matroid never did good in Japan. And we can't expect another Zelda game until 2008. So, lets wait and see how things start rolling.
The story title doesn't make sense and should have never got approved. But I guess The Round Peg wants everyone to see how good Blu-Ray is. :D
Please, don't misinform people with "max" bit rates. Just because the codec can encode at 3000kbs doesn't mean the encode will happen at 3000kbs. Secondly, the coding process is left to the studios it isn't ruled on by the Blu-Ray association.
I highly doubt few if ANY HD-DVDs are coded at 3000kbs, you can always prove me wrong. I won't bother going into the technical specs of why a typical HD-DVD disk can't have lossless audio and video, but I think you get the po...
Yeah, M$ enters the business and crap explodes.. what else is new?
M$ this is a real low for you guys. As for FOX news, they have been a JOKE in the media industry for sometime now. No one should take them seriously, and always re-check their sources... obviously these guys didn't do their research.. like they ever do.
25gb a layer times 3 = 75gb for 3 layers which is 24gb more then HD-DVDs. :)
It's 25gb per layer at 3x layer times 25gb = 75gbs. At 4 layers it's 100gb and at 8 layers it's 200gb. Blu-Ray has a constant read speed, so it won't slow down between layers. ;)
If you bought it for a game system good for you, you shouldn't be complaining. If someone else bought it as a Movie system good for them, they shouldn't be complaining. Saying the Ps3 is a Trojan horse for Blu-Ray disk format, is like saying Xbox 360 is a trojan horse for Downloadable movies / shows etc.. it makes no sense.
Your getting the best of both worlds be happy about it.. oh wait you don't own a Ps3.. ROFL.
