For "One of Sony's biggest exclusives," I'm guessing it isn't a lot of what we're seeing in the comments - not Colony Wars, Omega Boost, even ZoE3 (but I can dream!!!). Since it's in space, it's probably related to Naughty Dog, and the "classic" term brings to mind a mostly PS1 series. If they picked up Syphon Filter and put it in space, that would be pretty cool! If not, I'd guess Uncharted 4, considering that franchise really needs something n...
It's true. You might not really get why that game was so awesome for its time. The whole concept of an open world game wasn't that big back then, and it's known for its non-traditional gaming elements, such as working as a forklift operator or enjoying eating a snack, just as much as it's known for its story or graphics. It was surreal seeing so much detail put into stuff that most game devs would just hide or scrap.
I love in-depth design articles like this! It's really neat to see the usability ideas behind their decisions, beyond "It looks cool!" This is the kind of stuff that makes me want a PS4 at or near launch, to tell you the truth. I know, I'm weird.
I hope you all read the article, because there are two out-of-touch companies in this case: Microsoft and Rare. Microsoft throwing the broken Kinect at companies was awful, and yes, if Rare were left to their own devices, games would have been made, and probably decent ones. Their initial efforts, as listed above by Azz, were compromises to that new audience - even Ghoulies - and they were out of their element. Bad Fur Day HD hardly counts - it was a remake.
Rare's underesti...
I do all my Dowloading on the stock market. I can't believe I can now do it in the background of Steam! :P
I feel like we're going to see a bit more of this down the line. Remember, we're talking first-year, launch "window" stuff right now. Next E3 should be a doozy.
(For me, the PS4 just needs Persona 5 exclusivity, and I'm in.)
Personally, this is something I'll probably check out when it's on sale. As long as this is on the PC, I'm fine with that. PS4/PC FTW.
This sounds like litigation, to tell you the truth. It seems like an oversight on Quantic Dream's part to make nude models of the character, for whatever "realism" reasons they had, and then expect those models not to be exploited later on - as we saw with Hot Coffee, if it's on the disk, it's fair game.
Chances are QD's contract didn't include the disclosure of a nude body, and now they're trying to backtrack through Sony by having them ask ...
Sounds quite a bit like Ridiculous Fishing. Anyone played this?
The world of mobile games is definitely full of that crap, but do check out Super Hexagon at the very least. Stylish visuals, simple and responsive controls, zero microtransactions, and challenging as anything else you'll see on the market.
The author is forgetting all of the focused, creative, and arcade-like games that consoles and the PC have supported for the past six or so years - Shatter, Pac-Man CEDX+, Spelunky, Brothers, Journey, Flower. I mean, the guy mentions Joe Danger Touch! That was on the PS3 first, and it's better on the PS3 due to the controls.
Also, he seems to have no idea that the 3DS exists, with games that hearken back to the NES/SNES games he's mentioning, but are also usually deep...
Well, Salty Bet will be even more fun today, then!
Playing Pokemon for the story is like playing chess for the comfy seats, or watching Hot Fuzz for its touching love scenes.
Isn't being a good game, with a deep roster of playable characters, competitive balance, a unified aesthetic, a fleshed-out world, and a great level of polish enjoyable on its own?
I think cpayne may be looking more at agency than depth - the ability to openly make more choices as to how to play. Devil May Cry 3 may have been a series of monster rooms and some bosses, but there was a complex and responsive move system behind Dante, meaning you could develop your own style of fighting. QTEs are nearly the opposite of that - you're doing a quick task that you're told to do in order to get a favorable cutscene or an advantage (or, in the words of Yahtzee, "to ...
They've had about ten rainy years- do they have to be staring down an apocalypse to make it happen?
Methinks you take things a bit too literally.
How long will Dennis Dyack live? That's exactly how long he's capable of dragging his projects on, so there you go. Hence why I didn't buy in, and hence why he didn't get his funding. Those with enough cash know him too well, and they know he isn't the same guy who brought us Eternal Darkness back in the day.
I'm watching a YouTube clip on this game, and I am under absolutely no impression that the music implies it was a lost arcade gem. It looks and sounds like a free Flash game.
WOW.
There's the one game I kinda regret not playing, but didn't want to plunk down a lot of money for. I'm happy with that!
God, I wish. One title doesn't make a classic franchise, but to see Polyphony do that would be awesome.
